Original post, with some information gathered from user posts at Fomos
SK Terran. What does that invoke in your mind?
Maybe the legendary Terran line of SKT T1 - Boxer, Oov, Midas, Canata, and Fantasy.
And maybe the Bionic/Vessels style of play that restored Terran after July's dominance against the traditional Bionic.
That's what I thought when I saw a post at Fomos asking what's the origin of SK Terran. The responses, however, totally surprised me.

Above thread translated:
Question - What's the definition and origin of SK Terran?
Answers - Back in the day, a Terran user named SKOOO dominated Battle.net against Zerg, using numerous Vessels. Countless Bionic units and Vessels made Defilers almost useless. On the TV match, Oov for the first time famously used the strategy against July at a map named Into the Darkness and won. Thereafter, the strategy became known as SK Terran, named after the first two letters of SKOOO. - Isn't it SK Terran because of SoulKey? - His ID was something like Soulkey - I think SoulKey was the origin. The traditional Bionic added with a lot of fast-moving Vessels that help kill the opponent

SoulKey? Anybody else heard that player before? I immediately looked him up at TeamLiquid.

Not the most profiled player. Yet, all the answers at Fomos, whose users are usually very knowledgeable about SC, point at him as the originator of Bionic/Vessels style of play that is still heavily used by Terran users.
I am always fascinated by this kind of historical information and wonder what are these hidden innovators of SC are doing nowadays.

hm, I wonder who SKOOO is, unless he's SoulKey?
I need to learn how to play this way, my tanks keep dying T_T

I thought everyone knew this lol
A player by the ID SoulKey used it, but being micro-intensive, it wasn't used well until Nada starting using it and raped zergs left right and center.
But then again, SKOOO? I suspect that's SoulKey

yeah I think the consensus here is SK stands for SoulKey, not SKT
|
Uhm, yeah, Boxer wasn't the one that made SK Terran. It was SoulKey, he wrote a book about how cost effective marine medic and vessels are against zerg.
And I think this has been already covered in old topics around here..

Soulkey was the pioneer. Nada brought it into the limelight. A lot like how DT/sair came from Daezang, reaver/sair came from Nal_ra but they are both normal PvZ builds now.

I think there was a time where that "one size fits all" build was destroyed by Oov (?)

I'm not sure who first did those I'm sure about nal_rA pioneering Forge FE, but he wasn't able to immortalize it against Zerg......... and I'm 50% sure he started 12 nexus against Terran

I don't think anyone thinks of Boxer when they think of SK Terran.

Atleast not on this forum. Hmm it's interesting that even very obscure players have had such a profound effect on the strategy of the game.

Yeah... SoulKey, thus "SK" Terran. I thought everyone knew that.

I remember Kingdom going 14 Nex a lot, not sure if he was the first though.
