[Narrator] Boxer’s parents had three daughters before Boxer was born. He was born seven years after the youngest daughter was born.

[Narrator] Boxer’s parents have always had much love for him, but even they had a difficult time because of him.

- Dad – We gave him money when he said he would go and study in the library. What kind of parents wouldn’t do that when their kids say they’re gonna study? With that money and without our knowledge, he just went to PC café. We found out he was into game only when he was a senior in high school. We were like wtf.
[Narrator] That kid, who squandered his parents’ money on game instead of studying, is now the emperor of StarCraft, slayers_boxer. Back then (2000’s) StarCraft was just considered a teenage deviation. But when all the sudden the parents saw him on TV, they were shocked again.

- Mom – We were confused. Why he’s on TV? What’s that? We never seen anything like that and we had no idea what was going on. We’ve never heard of that kind of game.
[Narrator] When Boxer came home with the prize of computer, his dad began changing

- Dad – As parents, we were kinda embarrassed. We didn’t buy him computer so he wouldn’t play games. But he came back with a computer as competition prize. We were speechless.
[Narrator] Nowadays, his dad is his biggest supporter.

- Dad – About 150 tapes? Every game, every title matche, I taped them all to commemorate.
[Narrator] Nowadays, the parents are into watching games on TV.

- Mom – Nowadays, if I miss watching StarCraft on TV, I feel like I forget something in life.
- Dad – So even though we are over 60’s, we feel like 10’s or 20’s again. It wasn’t fun to watch when we didn’t know what was going on, but now we know and that makes watching StarCraft exciting.
[Narrator] His dad’s dream was to make a congressman or a government secretary out of Boxer. He feels how much the world has changed as he watched Boxer, as a StarCraft player, invited to meet the president.

- Dad – South Korea is now the number one place for professional gaming industry. I felt embarrassed that we couldn’t understand this futuristic thing when Boxer started out.
[Narrator] The next day, his dad is dressed up and ready to go out, to watch Boxer playing for Ace. When Boxer came up and fans began to cheer up, the parents became full with anticipation and emotions. All they can do is pray and support. It’s a difficult path as a gamer, but if that’s the path that he wants, today’s win or loss isn’t that significant.
