I'm writing this after 11 picks have been made, yet I'm still stuck on the first pick.
I'm not saying Matt Stafford shouldn't have gone #1, but $41M guaranteed? That drives me up a wall. How can an unproven player make that much guaranteed money? He could get hurt, never play, and make $41M dollars.
41 Million Reasons Matt Stafford Is Overrated
Is anyone else annoyed by this contract?

Also, any thoughts on the draft so far? The Raiders taking Derrius Heyward-Bey over Michael Crabtree was crazy. The Bay Area rival 49ers snatched up Crabtree at #10, and I bet that set a fire under Crabtree's gut. Me being a Niner fan makes that an exciting prospect, haha.

Hey, we need someone talking about sports around here, right? lol

i love how stupid the raiders are.. haha. I can't believe that.
Im kinda pissed the saints picked Jenkins.. (im a falcons fan) and Jenkins is a really good player I was hoping would slide to the falcons at #24.

I can't believe the raiders picked the 3rd best wide receiver when the #1 and #2 receivers are still on the board. They could have traded 15 spots down and still got Heyward-Bey.

Are there any legit QB's this year or are they all overrated? I've heard bad things about just every single rookie QB this year. Oh well. The NFL draft puts me to sleep if I try to watch it live. I'll check the final results later on when it's all said and done.

I'm scared of Washington's D-line.

Lol how can the raiders keep fucking stuff like this up? Looks like my seahawks made a good choice.

SERIOUSLY WTF
HOW WAS MAUALUGA DRAFTED IN THE 2ND ROUND?!?!
RAGE RAGE RAGE

Way too much money and probably does not deserve it. The only way he would deserve this is if he takes the Lions to superbowl and win it.. but slim chance.

still angry about rey maualuga (stupid NFL teams that didn't draft him when they had a good opportunity in the last 1st round)
but i'm happy for mark sanchez (#5 HOLY CRAP), brian cushing, and clay matthews
we'll miss you guys next year

I wonder why the Giants got Sanchez? Is Eli's contract ending or something. I'm sure other team with no QB could use him

Well it's not like Stafford is injured alot, I mean there are always those what-ifs when you sign a player, especially with that type of money.

stafford isn't the guy you'd want to draft if you want to turn a franchise around
/facepalm at detroit

They needed someone to throw the ball to Calvin Johnson that doesn't run out the back of the endzone during plays.

hey at least Jeremy Maclin fell to the Eagles ^^

I love the raiders. Thank You Al Davis <3

I am very annoyed by this contract. It baffles me that teams would pay so much money for a rookie player that has not proven themselves. The thought of just guaranteeing such a high amount of money raises issues of the player not earning a spot but, the player, feeling that they deserve that spot. I guess im old fashioned.
As an Eagles fan I felt we did great. I would of preferred Hakeem Nicks and Pettigrew. We did strong though. All we need is a decent DB and some D lineman.
[edit]
Even with todays economy how are these teams paying out this much money? And not to just anyone..to rookies. I didn't read most of the ops post because I feel mostly the same way.
For the California teams the only one that profited was the 49ers
Worst team..Raiders.. seriously wtf? lol
[edit]
The team that did the best in the draft I feel. Would have to be the Detroit lions. They addressed many of the concerned issues and drafted the 3 pronged attack. With pettigrew(te), stafford(qb), williams(wr). They also drafted some defensive players that are pretty good quality as well. I think they should draft more players on the O-Line and D-line. Since that is, what I feel, is the most crucial part of ANY team.
[edit] Do I feel Stafford is overated? Naw. Not one bit. The only bust I would see in the QB group would be Freeman. Im hoping Sanchez has a great career.(since I live in socal I have watched many of his games)

LOL WHY DIDNT ANYONE TAKE REY MALALUGA? God.. He's coming off his best season as an inside backer and they chose Cushings before him ridiculous.
Well, Stafford is physically fit, and has a good arm. The starting salary may be a bit high, but the Lions are a terrible team with a huge salary cap they can afford its so w/e

Oh.. And Crabtree isnt the best WR in the draft IMO I mean, he's really athletic and has good hands but he doesnt really run good routes his 40 time is pretty slow (compared to other wideouts) and is pretty inconsistant. I think the Raiders were looking for someone to fit into their program. Someone who is good at running the middle routes.
