Anyway, here it is. Interview with Coach Lee of Hite Sparkyz, not a player! Ask and you shall receive
I hope this gives new insights for people to think about, who got bored with the almost-exact duplicate interviews of the players.
Coach Lee Myung Geun on being the 2nd coach to achieve 100 wins: "I will make a good, strong team."
"I don't want to place too much emphasis on the 100th win."
"I don't want to place too much emphasis on the 100th win."
Hite's Coach Lee Myung Geun has become the 2nd coach to achieve 100 wins.
Coach Lee Myung Geun('s team) defeated KTF after dragging the game to the ace match 3:2, held on the 25th of April, 1300 KST at the Yongsan e-Sports Indoor Stadium for the Shinhan Bank Proleague 08-09 Round 4 Week 3 Day 1, clinching his 100th win of the season.
Coach Lee said, when asked about his thoughts on his 100th win, that '(he) had initially not thought of the 100 wins as a great deal, but after seeing Reach achieve his 100th win, (he) thought that the number 100 held a great, deep meaning', and because of that, (he) realised that (they) have come a long way, winning many games'.
The following is the interview with Coach Lee.
- Your thoughts on being the 2nd coach to achieve 100 wins.
▲ I had initially not thought of the 100 wins as a great deal, but after seeing Reach achieve his 100th win, I thought that the number 100 held a great, deep meaning, and because of that, I realised that we have come a long way, winning many games.
- Coach Kim Ga Eul (t/l note: Coach of Samsung Khan) has made 3 attempts so far and has yet to achieve her 100th win, while you managed to get yours with just 1 attempt through 3 consecutive wins.
▲ I did not think about that. Even if today's match was not our 100th win, it was still an important match for us. We performed poorly in the Winner's League, and we thought that now was our chance to make up for our performance back then. If we lost today, then we would have dropped in the ranks and our future matches would be less certain. That is the main reason why I am happy, and not just because it is our 100th win.
- You did not look like you were at ease even when you were leading 2:0.
▲ We had to face our opposing team's ace player Flash in the fourth set, so if Leta somehow lost in set 3, we anticipated that we will be forced to play the ace match. It was because we knew that the opposing team have many strong players who will pose a threat to us that we were not at ease the whole time.
- What was your most memorable match among your 100 wins?
▲ It would be the match against Hwaseung in the Shinhan Bank Proleague 2008 Post-season. We lost the first and second set, but Leta won in the fourth and ace match consecutively, and at the point of time, I was so moved that I almost cried. At the point of time, our players practiced really hard, and because that match helped us to get into the post-season, it is the most memorable match.
- You won only one out of the 8 Proleagues. Your desire to win this season must be big.
▲ We won once in 2004 when our team was KOR, but that win wasn't really a scheduled win. I remember that win as one in which we won by having a strong desire and overpowering the enemy in terms of momentum. Now, I am developing my team in the way I want it to be, and winning the Grand Finals under the perfect scenario is my target. (t/l note: This might be slightly difficult to understand, was a real pain to translate. Basically, he says that the 2004 win wasn't that glorious enough, so he wants to win this time through epic scenarios like sudden reverse-all kill [like the CJ vs Hwaseung WL finals scenario])
- Among the players you have guided so far, who left the strongest impression?
▲ It would be Oddysay. He had a great game sense, so he was well-liked, and I tried my best to guide him well. But our team wasn't in such a good state at that time, and we had to send him off to another team, where he eventually retired. If only I had guided him well, then he would have been a player that would have left his mark in the history of e-sports. But I couldn't, so he will remain on my mind, for I have a lot of regrets.
- What is your next target?
▲ Anyway, our team is now in the ranks that we aimed for. Next week will have even fiercer competition for the ranking positions. This season is pretty long, so I have planned a long-term schedule, and my current target is to kick-start our performance in Round 4. We will show our strong fighting spirit, and make it into the Grand Finals. Our target for now is to make it into the Grand Finals.
- Any final words?
▲ Firstly, I am thankful towards our fans and our players. Because my 100th win was going to be determined by today's outcome, they practiced as though they were practicing for the finals. Somehow it seems as though they practiced even harder than they would have practiced for the finals. I am once again thankful towards the players, and I am thankful towards everyone who have expressed their continued support and interest in our team. I will make Hite Sparkyz into a good, strong team.
