Last weekend, seven out of eight seeds failed to germinate, leading many to wonder "wtf is going on here?!" Liquibet voting percentages were flattened across the board and even Tasteless had to remark, "This is like watching a boxing match in a telephone booth." + Show Spoiler +
Yes, that quote is out of context...
The only folk that coulda predicted these results have broken watches blinking 12:00 all day long. Flabberghasting! Of the eight seeds that played last weekend, only Reach advanced to the round of 32, pleasing mantoss fans everywhere.
The losses last week hit KHAN fans the hardest, as five of the seven eliminated seeds were Samsung KHAN players. M18M is now KHAN's lone hope for a Classic championship and we should learn a great deal about this young player's potential when he plays Kwanro on May 5th.

JangBi vs BaBy Game 1 on Destination.... actually, the whole series. Kwark has this to say about the games: + Show Spoiler +
JangBi is #5 on the power rank and in my opinion a favourite against every player but those ranked above him in the PR. GOM rank him #6 which is close and therefore reflects well on their ranking. Unfortunately for BaBy they rank him #90. JangBi's PvT is very good and therefore this should be one sided.
His 13 core, zealot opening with late scouting is very safe against cheese and aiming for a straightup standard game which he can win by playing to his strengths.
Attempted some reavergoon play but was extremely unambitious with his reaver. Killed the turret and had a reaver and a zealot left near the mineral line but didn't even attempt to hit the scvs or tank. JangBi delayed his expansion a lot for a reaver and then didn't attempt to use it. Terran drop play was unorthadox and effective, exploiting the layout of Destination to hold 3 bases off a small army allowing him to commit a lot of resources into drops without leaving himself open.
BaBy showed up with a clear plan and an unusual play style. JangBi was always trying to catch up and deal with BaBy. Ultimately JangBi's plan of just surviving to the late game worked, his arbiter play was as good as ever and he showed a few nice shuttlestorms. I was very impressed with BaBy's play for most of this game and I must commend JangBi for pulling victory from the jaws of defeat with his perfect PvT lategame.
13 nex to the back expansion on Medusa isn't like a standard 13 nex. You need range and 2 gateways to hold up any kind of push and off only one gas that really slows your ob timing. Dropship and vulture play is strong against 13 nex to the back expansion here. BaBy's dropship trick was seriously cute. He saw the observer blur and abused it to 'overstretch' and trick JangBi into a counterattack that went horribly wrong. BaBy abandoned drop play at the exact right time and then showed some beautiful push control and micro to push into the nat. Beautiful game. No shame in JangBi losing this. BaBy showed it all here, cute plays, great unit combinations, excellent micro and an extremely unorthodox style.
There's not much to say about the third game which Tasteless and SuperDanielMan didn't cover. BaBy's wraith, bunker and FE play was very stylish and then his ninja expansion while dropping vults and massing tanks was effective. He went 10 fact, 2 pumping tanks and 8 suiciding vultures and by keeping his tanks alive he stopped JangBi from ever breaking his push. Each time JangBi would clear the mines, kill the vultures and then get tankowned and have to back off. The short push distance between the bases, the failure of JangBi to effectively flank and the fact that BaBy didn't lose any tanks all game til he pushed made it unstoppable. I'm not unhappy with JangBi's play this game. I'm amazed at both the level of BaBy's play and the highly unusual style he showed. It was great to watch a Terran incorporate drops, mass science vessels and small, well aimed stabbing attacks.
I don't know what to make of it all. JangBi didn't play badly, BaBy was just unreal. Not in a perfect TvP way but in a 'I don't know wtf I'm watching but I love it' way. Question is whether he's amazing or whether he just knew that all he had was GOM so spent the last month putting those builds together. Watch this guy.

The 26th is bathed in superstars, featuring games with Flash, Nada and Jaedong. However, considering what happened last week, I'm going to avoid jinxing them by predicting their easy victories. Instead, I'll look forward to the HiyA vs Stats match, which should be an entertaining series if for no other reason than to hear Tasteless brag about Stats' recent victory over 2006 OSL champion, AdamaS (aka Casy). HiyA's TvP is far superior to AdamaS', though, so if Stats can pull this off, it'll be a true testament to his blossoming skills.
The 28th features the return of BackHo. Classic fans will remember that he was forced to forfeit his Quarterfinal's match to JangBi last season when pain associated with a back injury made it impossible for him to play. Be sure to show your support for BackHo when the live report thread arrives.

While Delirium and others are extolling the tremendous victory BaBy managed over JangBi, JWD chimes in with a different opinion.
Thanks to Kwark for his insight. <3 See you in the Live Report Threads!
