I'm not a serious player of the game by any means. I observe and understand the fundamentals of why progamers are doing what they do, but I know it'll take me too long to build up the mechanics to play anywhere close to that so I don't really bother. I stick with the simpler games that I can actually play and win.
Blood Bath I pretty much always choose Toss and 9/10 gate regardless of my opponent. The vast majority of pubbies can't keep up with the basic macro and micro and I win these easy. I usually play them 2v2 and hope my partner has some clue and some units at least.
Storytime: I beat this one 40apm player in 2v2 BloodBath (o rly?). He wanted a re, so we both get random 2v2 partners again and the game is over with the first rush again. He then challenges me to 1v1 and I'm totally confident I'll destroy him anyways.
He picks Terran, and I'm Toss again. I scout with my 9 Gate probe and harass his SCV building the Rax. I take out the first SCV building it while he's chasing me with two SCVs. I take away half the HP of the 2nd SCV before losing my probe. By this time I have my first Zealot streaming in and I go right for his SCV line. I continue the pylon+zeals just streaming them in. He leaves after about the 5th zeal comes in without even saying gg.
Phantom BGH This game is retarded. I hate actually being the phantom, but love being one of the slayers. I choose Toss and FE shortly after 1st pylon. I then just 0p9p for a while, then tech straight to Scouts. Before I get to that point, I always spell out something in my base with pylons/cannons. Usually "F U" or "FAG" (even though I never say the word IRL, it's just easy to spell out in game). With two cyb cores upgrading air, forge upgrading shields, and the scout upgrades (lol), I build scouts nearly to max and throw in a few observers.
If no one has attacked yet I unally the closest person to me and attack his nexus/cc/hive with my 40+ scouts, while building cannons all over my base with my excess minerals. I wipe out so many players doing this it greatly amuses me.
Drawing contest and mass scouts FTW!
What other retarded stuff is fun to do on Phantom?
Conclusion I wish this were a brag post, but yeh, I'm essentially just noob stomping. I suck at SC. I'd lose to any decent player at BB 1v1, any decent player on competitive 1v1 maps, and I lose in team games when my partners suck. Nonetheless, my mechanics are getting a little better. Last week I was averaging like 90APM, now I average 110.
Back to FF3/6....

in phantom, my friend and i would pm each other to see if either is the phantom. if not, kill everyone indiscriminately lol
|
When I play phantom i like spelling stuff out too hehe. I do it with Terran cuz turrets are a bit cheaper than pylons. I've seen this one guy just worker rush than leave... what else... a 4 pool here and there... when I'm the Phantom and have killed everyone if I have an SCV I just nuke my base at the end
|
yeah but pylons you know, give supply
|
@paper: I like the idea. Ally noob-stomping :D
@morning: Spelling stuff is too awesome. One time I even spelled out "I <3 COK" (using the Much pylon heart) across my two bases and then ping my bases in order to make sure everyone sees my art. Much lulz to be had
@saya: Precisely! I usually have like 64/200 early on lol. Plus, cannons can attack ground and air and are quicker to mass produce.
|
When I play phantom, I love being the phantom...especially on the version of the map that has 802 max and unlimited upgrades. Then I just ASAP start upgrades, then flood goons into middle of the map until no one can move out of their base.
It's the dumbest shit ever.

I also forgot to mention another amusing story... this one with Phantom BGH. At the start of the game I went AFK to take a leak and get a drink, and come back to find I was selected as Phantom. I didn't feel like doing much, so I picked up my guitar and just started practicing and playing around for a while. I just let them accuse and kill each other while I sat there and played guitar. They were convinced they killed the phantom, so I just left after they killed the player - didn't feel like playing as phantom anyways.
I've never won as the phantom yet. I might kill 1 or 2 players, but then I get 5v1'd with their near maxed armies and my base gets destroyed. Hence why I think the game is retarded. I've beat the Phantom 1v1 using a TvZ mech build with full upgrades. Phantom BGH is pretty stupid, because the slayers aren't even at that much a disadvantage due to it being a money map.
I haven't played the 800 max one yet... I thought it would be really laggy or something. But that one definitely gives a significant advantage for the Phantom at least!

5 pool in phantom every game... like put down the pool before the game even picks who the phantom is

lol Phantom with 8 player where everyone is in the same ventrilo is sooo much fun haha. Like everyone screaming "who's the phantom omg?!?!"

lol I remember when I played a phantom with some guys on phantom and suddenly one guy removed vision from everyone so we're like gogoogogo worker rush him!
And then we got to him and we find out that he actually was phantom, building 2-3 hatch and a pool at the same time. So we start attacking his pool like shit and suddenly it completes without any damage, suddenly someone screams in ventrilo "we gotta unally him!" lolol

For a few games I would unvis everyone at start just in case I was Phantom, but it never actually helped any, cuz then they already start accusing you and sending in their own spies to check on you. If you kill any of their scouting units, you must be Phantom and get wiped out! I just think everyone having vision in Phantom is totally lame... hence why I just play it to fuck around with drawing and massing scouts

I like Phantom BGH because you can choose "low" resources which, although still ridiculously high, makes it possible.
But the problem with Phantom is that having good macro means you lose the game, even if you are slayer. Since all the people who play are newbs T_T
|
I always choose "challenge" ("low" resources).
This one dude that was playing last night said: "This is my first time playing a low money map. I'm used to fastest". He was shocked to know BGH wasn't low money.
Earlier this afternoon I played one. I chose random and ended up as Zerg, him Terran. Early on he said "blue is phantom, let's get him!".
Even though he was kidding (phantom wasn't chosen yet), I responded back "bring it on!" and he's all "I'm just kidding, love you blue".
I 6 pool him and he says "pfft please" as my 6 lings come in. Unfortunately for him, I didn't let his SCVs surround my lings like the other BGH noobs (he took EVERY SCV off the line too, without even stacking them) and instead I ran around and harassed him picking off stray units and damaging buildings, while bringing in more lings and building more hatcheries. Then I see him give up on defending and take all his SCVs to head over to my base. I quickly build a sunken inbetween my base and the minerals, and block it with 4 lings at home. He instantly drop hacks, so I whisper him "fail harder" as he comes back online.
I never knew so many people hacked when playing UMS. I swear every other Phantom game there's at least one hacker. Then again I play on East...

wut? Having good macro as a slayer actually places you at even level with the Phantom considering how bad most players are. You start off behind of course, but with decent macro, you quickly get to the point where the Phantom no longer has a significant advantage.

If you have good macro, you are accused of being the phantom and most of the time, 3v1'd
