Hello thar.
Right to the point, I read in the desktop thread that some guys wanted an app that changed the wallpaper at some rate, so I decided I'd try to make one. And I think I succeeded A little disclaimer: I'm completely self-learned, and this is pretty much my first real windows app excluding some 5843 tutorials. So it may not work 100% correctly 100% of the time(but it should!). I didnt find any major bugs in this version though, but let it be said I haven't tested anything greater than the hourly intervals. I'll be working a bit more on it, so if you want a new feature/update/bugfix just PM me Install notes are in the readme. Doesn't work with anything less than Win2000 btw.
DesktopChanger can be downloaded here.
I also thought it'd be fun to post my flash game! Excluding hello world and bouncing ball programs, that's the first thing I wrote, although it has progressed pretty far since its first incarnations. It still has a shitton of bugs unfortunately. If anyone is learning flash/actionscript and wants to see the source, just PM me and Ill send it to you. Be warned though, it's close to 100 files. Also, I'm aware the intro is fucking terrible, but bear with me.
The game(Tempest) can be downloaded here.
At last I be having a question! I'd like to learn php and web-related programming in general, but that's kinda hard without a website or server or something. And Ive been trying to get one, to no avail. I feel completely helpless because I really don't understand shit about this web-stuff. Could anyone point me to a step by step tutorial for stupids on how to set up a website somewhere, for free? Thanks in advance!

i have no interest in the changer, but regarding your last question, you can work locally with php, if you turn your computer into a server - http://www.wampserver.com/en/ - that installs PHP, Apache, mySQL for windows, very newb friendly

Hehehe now I know who to go for with help when I get stuck on assignments in school with C++ and programming
The only programs I've learned how to make so far are cash register calculators for stores, a program that tells you how many buckets of paint you need to paint a room(after you give room info, doors, windows, etc), a program to calculate percentages for voting and such. Random pointless shit.
But I will try your program, I've been looking for something like this as well
EDIT: The flash game isn't bad, but it's still a boring flash game so I'll stick to SC
On the other hand I can't get the desktop changer to work. I installed it like in the readme and the changer.exe is in my pictures folder but it doesn't change when the countdown timer reaches 0. I took out the picture files that it cannot use and put them in a sub-folder. Doe's that not work or something? Do I need to put those pictures in a totally different folder or something?

Cool, I'll check it out and see if I can get it through my skull. Thanks!
Grobyc did you select both change and update intervals? If either of them is set to Never, the timer doesn't start, and while the tooltip shows a countdown there isn't really one I'll fix it so there's a default timer now! The program only looks for jpgs and bmps, so it doesn't matter if the folder is full of other crap

The program runs in the corner of the desktop like it's supposed to but nothing changes.
Could it perhaps be because I am using the Windows 7 beta?

I have one called randombg that works quite well.

Yeah, that might definitely be it. I did test it on a few other pcs with XP home/pro and it worked fine there. I'll see if I can find out more about it ^^

Uses very little ram. You can choose a folder for the program to sift through (changing every x minutes). Or you can just right click and change it yourself if you get bored of it.
