I am trying to do sort of a Korean culture immersion to assist my efforts to learn the language and I don't have ANY Korean music.
Any genre is fine.. Pop, hiphop, rock, metal, electronic I don't care. If you think it is good music and it is from Korea than please post here with a description of what it is like.
Please do not turn the replies into a flamewar about what is good and what is not. Please do not suggest non-Korean music, go do that in your own blog.
Slight derailment but, do people want to immerse themselves in the Korean culture because the best Starcraft players are Korean, and they think that it makes them cool by association; or is it because of Starcraft, they learn about the Korean culture and realize how great (whether it is or not) it is?
Here is a thread that was pretty much copied+pasted listing all the Korean metal bands. I'm pretty sure that some of them will be pretty hard to get ahold of, but Necramyth is pretty good if you're into that kind of thing (Black Metal). The Crescents are also pretty good IMO.

Why not? I just listen to anything that's good, whether it is chinese, korean, swedish, american etc... doesn't really matter. Maybe people just want to explore new things because it is interesting?
I'll recommend some bands soon I just gotta decide on the best ones.
Really good Korean band that won last years Korean Rock Album of the Year award. Post-rock elements bound together with a screaming voice.
we got underwear and lots of girls (Post-Rock)
Despite the somewhat hilarious and bizarre name this is one of the few korean post-rock bands that exist. They really have a unique sound if you actually listen to it carefully.
MOT (Rock/Indie/Alternative)
Great Korean alternative rock band which has a really cool sound, really feels like drifting away.
That was all, might fill up the list more later but it's pretty tedious to give out the same recommendations in every thread about korean music. (which is why I gave two new ones this time)
Thanks for the suggestions so far, some of you are putting a lot of effort into your posts and I do appreciate it very much!

As said in my OP, I am learning the language and cultural immersion is helpful to that. Getting used to hearing korean words, how sounds are said, where pauses are, the tone of voice in situations, inflections, etc etc. In general by watching Korean TV/Movies and listening to Korean Music I can help myself learn to talk in Korean rather than only learning how to sound like an American reading Korean words off a page.
Beside the point, does it seem odd to you that people would be interested in learning about and experiencing another countries culture? I like british comedies, japanese animes, indian music videos.. There is a whole world out there and it is pretty interesting ^_^
Keit great picks. I especially liked "we got underwear and lots of girls" which ironically is going to do nothing to help with language learning due to the lack of lyrics.. But always good to learn about new good music. I will search for your other posts, sorry about not searching first.. I get lazy with blogs

Haha, yeah tbh I kinda skimmed through the topic, and once my post was done and posted I looked back and saw you wanted it for language training so I kinda had to facepalm myself.
http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=iFlfCjpI_kU - I'm your girl (debut single I think) by SES - who were huge. HUGE. Their rivals were fin.k.l but I dont like any of those songs
http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=K7W9HX4ndIk H.O.T - Candy - maybe the biggest band in kpop history. Candy is there most internationally famous song I think. If you dont like this song, some of the other songs sound quite different.
I can't say my taste is good since it's all based on opinion but a lot of people seemed to like it. I range from underground hip hop, pop, indie, alternative, rock, ballads.
You should find some songs on YouTube:
