DELETE VISTA GO XP.
xD sorry, I know that didn't help much. I seriously hate Vista though, I have such a hard time running anything on it. I am pretty good with XP right now, I know how most of the operations work, how to password recover stuff. But vista is like using a fucking Mac to me -_-; except less yelling "HOW THE FUCK DO I RIGHT CLICK?"

needs 1.15.2 but its down(from moc's website). TT
|
I think chaoslaunchers for older versions are provided in the chaoslauncher topic
edit: it's down? ouch, lol
I think you should still try to get it working even with 1.16 launcher

if i try it with 1.16 it would not load sc bc my sc is 1.15.2 not 1.16.
|
Try loading SC with your CD (or CD image).
From the error message, it sounds like an access problem. Are you an administrator on that computer? Does C:\Program Files\Starcraft have write permission?
|
ill try to install with CD tomorrow. at first it asked me something about networking and i allowed it(it downloaded fine) but until it finishes(wants restart), i try to get on bnet and it would ask me to redownload the patch. i did it manually after that and it said that error. im reinstalling sc right now and using manual method from start.
i dont even know how to go in from administrator from start on vista.

I had this problem very recently, I had originally installed from the Blizzard store and when I tried to update I would get an error. I just reinstalled with discs and it worked like a charm.
|
i used this method for my laptop on XP(other comp) and it works like a charm, fucking vista ugh. its basically it cannot create an update. i guess ill use the CDs tomorrow. thanks. if i have more issues ill just post here tomorrow.

oh it says this, i was originally going to post a screen but funky colors:
network upgrade failed storm_error_requires_upgrade
whatever that means, then it has an OK.

Vista is bad as is any windows.
Personally I'd reinstall the whole Sc. It takes like 5 minutes to do so. And update via Battle net.

Raithed : you are probably not admin OR the write access to Program Files is blocked by Vista for "security reasons". In the first case, you have to use admin rights and try to run the patch. In the second case, right-click on the patch exe and choose "Run as administrator". If it still doesn't work, reinstall StarCraft somewhere else than Program Files... sorry. Or just install XP. I don't know much about Vista but the "Run as admin" crap should help a bit.

Had also a lot of problems with vista and some older games. Whenever i restarted Quake 3 all my settings were lost. Copying the config files in the right directories did not help either. The same with rFactor despite launching the games as "administrator" and taking ownership of the specific directories. After creating an extra partition for all my programs all my problems were gone.
