I've learned in a psychology class that a man tends to subconsciously look for a partner with characteristics that reminds him of his mother. Hmmmmmm.....I guess. Anyways, Flash being such a powerful gamer is still so down to earth.

Nice interview.. Thanks for the translation. About the question with Flash's girl type. I think many people here just misunderstand Flash. I dont think it is strange for a teenager (especially asian) to model his girl type to be like his mother. If we (asian peolple) have a great mum, we often model her to be the pecfect women(not sexuality), I many of us want our gf at least have something in common with our mom. I have the same thought when I was at Flash'age young too(I am 24 now) For some people making fun of Flash because he is interesting in Starcraft much more on girls. I think you re just retarded. It is his JOB, he get paid nicely even adults years older than him can not. So it is totally ok for him to devote all his time to what paid him than with the girl, at least until hes a little bit older. When I was in College I studied with many Koreans, At first I was surprise that many of them didnt get laid or even have a girl friends at age 19~23. But when they do have a gf, I m telling you they are like fucking' glued with each other. I think thats just the way the Korean do it. Deal with that and dont flame something or someone you dont fully understand

Instead of going: blond, tall, cute eyes, small chin, long hair, bla bla, they just say the name of the korean celeb that gets closer to their ideal girl, so maybe that's the reason for the internet thing answer.
Oh, and the "I feel sorry for progamers, they don't have a life, they are pathetic losers that will die virgin, bla bla bla" it is getting kind of old.
I feel sorry for exploited kids or guys who are really struggling with life throwing shit at their faces every time they try to stand up and go on.
Progamers? It's something they chose, voluntarily, because they love the game, and I'm sure they are pretty damn happy they made it. And they do something that is socially accepted. It's not something nerdy anymore in Korea. However, keeping up with a site that discuss strategy and players of a video-game in the western culture... well, wouldn't THAT be nerdy?
No hanging out with friends? Every now and then, I read interviews and it seems like going to the movies, playing sports and doing fun stuff other than SC is pretty common, most of the times even mandatory depending on what team you play on.
Girlfriends? Well, some will have gf's, some won't. Like in.... life itself. Even TL.net. I wonder how many of the haters here have gf's. The fact that some guys here make such a big deal of having a gf, like having one makes you finally a winner, makes me wonder. Personally, having a gf has never made me feel cooler than others, not a life-winner or a life-loser. Just happy. I don't go judging others because they have no gf. Guys like Bisu, Nada, Boxer, Savior and such can snap their fingers and be sure that girls will pop out. Guys like TheZerg or Bug-Terran, well, chances are girls will not fall to their feet.
Future? Well, the biggest stars are earning loads of money, and for sure they have a future somewhere linked to the growing eSport industry. The guys who suck and won't get anywhere in SC? Well, it's not like they quit their education(see Flash). And there is life after SC. They can keep studying, and if they are determined and smart, they will make it. Just like in every other thing in life. Especially with the Korean corporation entry level tests, what you have studied doesn't limit you that much.
Oh and let me remind you, you are in a SC forum. You follow the careers of these no-life losers. Lol, you even cheer for them and curse when they lose. So, whatever. And when you mock progaming-nerds, well, just let me remind you these site is supported by a very dedicated staff that invests quite a few hours to make TL.net possible. So indirectly, you are disrespecting their efforts too.
On December 30 2008 04:58 AloneInDaBunker wrote: yea the reason there are so many 'lol' or 'keke" is because the interview has been done online. "ㅎㅎ" is more like smily expression than "lol". When asked their fav girl type, Koreans usually refer to attractive female singers or actresses. And only way progamers can learn about them out of their 12 hr training per day, is through checking photos& interviews of them on internet. This is why Flash said he can't answer because he hasn't been on the net checking them out. hope this answers some of your complains. gj mrhoon for translating.
I love you 2 so much. I thank you guys so so much

It's almost 6 in the morning and I don't feel like reading all 7 pages of this thread, but usually when progamers are being interviewed and are asked about their type of girl, they ALWAYS post web links to Korean celebrities they think are attractive. The first part of Flash's answer is basically saying "Well, I haven't used the internet in a while, so I don't know which celebs are getting the most attention right now". Remember that the internet is much more mainstream and used for a lot more different purposes than in virtually any other country.
The "eating helps thing" - I think that most Asian cultures (Japanese, Chinese, Korean) are much, much more food-oriented than most Western cultures. When progamers win something big, all they talk about is how they're going to buy their team a meal. When asked by their team mates about how they'd like their winner to use the money, they always say "I hope he buys us something good to eat" and very rarely do they say anything else. So, when Flash says that eating well helps his condition, it doesn't seem so strange when you realize this part of his culture.
The "lol" issue - The ㅎㅎ and ㅋㅋㅋㅋ are different in that the first one is supposed to be more of a "ho ho ho/hoo hoo hoo" type of laugh. The other one is supposed to be more of a "kekeke" kind of snicker. I supposed the closest way to translate the first one would indeed be 'lol'. Personally, if something like a few LOLs is all it takes to turn you off to an interview with fucking FLASH, then I don't think you belong in this forum.

Go to hell Flash-haters!
And I still can't understand sth. From all top progamers it seems like Flash has the largest amount of haters. Can someone explain me why is that?

When iloveoov first busted into the scene believe it or not majority of the people said "he is boring, I rather watch nada/boxer okay? Hes gay." Now look how many people think about iloveoov, the guy is a fucking legend. When Boxer beat Giyom 3:0 and started rising up the korean communities started saying "cheesy and BM terran, you got lucky." Nobody liked Boxer too except a small amount of people at that time. Same thing applies for Savior. So many people hated savior because he kept kicking off everyone else's favorite players hence the reason why he was marked as the villain. Jaedong wasn't really liked at first too. Zerg fans were angry that 'this' guy was suppose to be their replacement as the new Zerg Leader.
It seems like there are alot of new flash haters because, well there are alot more TL members. Sure there are some stupid reasons to hate flash like "durr he laughs too much" but there has always been a fair share of haters for each player.
edit: Also if you want to be cool you have to hate on flash or nobody will hang out with you.
