"This has 'WTF' written all over it. 'Half Baked' star Dave Chappelle was recently on ESPN radio. Among the topics discussed was, strangely, the UFC and it's rise in popularity. Chappelle was asked if he enjoyed or followed MMA:
" Yeah I watch it sometimes, It’s always been something I wanted to do. I don’t mean I’m looking for a career in it , but you know I would probably do it just for maybe one or two fights. "
Chappelle went on to explain his current training:
"Like I said earlier man, its only a hobby, but I like training hard. Obviously with my career I’m always all over the place, but when I’m in Vegas, I try and stop in at Xtreme Couture, cause Randy is my boy. But yeah you know, if I’m in a place for more than a few days, I’ll go and train. I really like training down at ATT, they got some awesome guys there."
When asked who Chappelle would most like to fight if he ever were to compete:
" It doesn’t really matter to me man, I mean if i train hard and correctly it shouldn’t matter. It would be pretty fun to fight Rogan though. I know he trains and is a badass he is pretty big, but it would still be fun . Id like to fight Kat Williams too, yeah I’d really like to fight him."
Though it is no surprise that there are celebrities out there who like MMA and there are those who even train in a martial art as a hobby it does sound sort of strange to hear. The most notable celebrities I can think of who love MMA or martial arts and even train for fun, besides Joe Rogan and Kevin James, is star of the great 1990s TV series 'Married With Children', Ed O'Neil (a black belt in BJJ under Rorion Gracie). The other celebrity that comes to mind is musician, Maynard James Keenan. The lead singer of Tool and A Perfect Circle has studied under Rickson Gracie and last I heard was a purple belt in BJJ.
This revelation from Chappelle just strikes me as kind of odd, but then again Dave Chappelle is an odd person. One day he's going on sabbatical to Africa, the next he's training at Xtreme Couture. Talk about odd.
Anyways, I'd imagine Chappelle has a mean uppercut.

When I saw this is took a step back it struck me as extremely surprising. Dave Chappelle is seriously a cool dude and I'd be interested to see a video of him training. I also had no idea that Maynard trained in bjj...under of all people Rickson Gracie.
Wow....That is odd to hear but not out of this world odd. Everyone has there views on anything and anything can attract any type of people to the hobby.
What really strikes me is Maynard being involved....I wanna see him kick some ass while singing....Would be a sight to see....

There was this other black guy who was a comedian he had a semi competitive match against Royce, it was funny, he was being dramatic for the audience and royce is royce, very serious all the time. haha. I can't remember his name.

AND he's still singing while all this is happening. Now that's bad ass.
