I was actually thinking about this ums map idea for the longest time now... but of course I never got around to even starting it.
It's melee, but at certain parts there are triggers that reminisce of diplo/civilization maps. Let me explain:
1) At the beginning of the game, you are given many choices of progamer identities to take on. Liken this to diplo/civ where you can choose your country.
2) Each progamer has benefits and disadvantages. The purpose of the disadvantages is not necessarily to balance the map (cause that'd be impossible) but rather just keep it from a one sided imba rape. The point of the map is to parody progamers playstyles and abilities, not for competitive play.
Advantages/Disadvantages: + Show Spoiler + Advantages/Disadvantages would include things like (but not restricted to): Boxer: -While number of CC==1: main base has double minerals (ie. 3000 per patch instead of 1500) -marines have added health (ie. +10hp) and stim medics have optical flare -scvs heal to full hp every 60 seconds -50% refund for every valkyrie built -wraith cloak, lockdown, emp, goliath range already researched -Hero Unit: double hp Dropship that comes with Ghost with double hp and starts with 250/250 energy + 200/200 refund for every nuke silo built. Gained every certain # of kills (ie. 50 kills)
NaDa: -upon building your first vulture, an extra vulture is given -upon building # of factories (ie. 5 or 6), 12 vultures and 12 tanks will spawn for free -while vulture count is less than half of tank count, 2 vultures will spawn every 30 seconds. -vultures have 100 hp and 1 base armour -Hero Unit: double hp Dropship that comes with 4 vultures
sAviOr: -Lair is replaced by Hive after a set amount of time (ie. 3 minutes after lair is made it turns into a hive) -cannot research adrenal glands -defilers come with consume and plague researched -if your opponent brings any 2nd-tiered unit to your ramp/choke before a set time (ie. 5-7 minutes), 6 lurkers and 12 zerglings will spawn to defend. -Hero Unit: Defiler with unlimited energy, heals every so often so that a single irradiate alone cannot kill it.
July: -cannot make Hive until a set time -cannot make hydralisks or lurkers until a set time - +1 zergling for every 2 zerglings hatched (after a set time, otherwise 4 pool imba) -if player commands 5 or more expansion bases with utralisk cavern: spawn 120 supply worth of late game units and mass attack all units (except drones) to enemy main. (sauron zerg) Hero Unit: a single mutalisk that has the health and damage of 9 mutalisks.
Bisu: -refund 50% of minerals/gas if bisu build is used -if opponent is zerg, start with 0 minerals +1 probe (as if the probe was already built) -storm is researched, reaver damage+capacity is researched, shuttle speed is researched, arbiter stasis and recall are researched -corsairs spawn with 150 energy Hero Unit: Dark Templar with 40 health 40 shields, but 160 damage
iloveoov: -upon creating your 3rd cc, +2000 minerals and +1000 gas -upon creating set # factories (12-16), spawn 100 supply worth of vult/tank/gol and mass attack into enemy base -for every 3 tanks built, add one tank. -for every 5 vultures built, add two vultures. -if resources go over set amount (ie. 1500 minerals 1000 gas) automatically spend it on tanks that spawn at your factories. -yamato researched, siege researched Hero Unit: Battlecruiser - 33% refund and comes with full energy
Flash, Stork, Jaedong, Sea, etc. etc.: you guys already wrote stuff, see above
3) There are a lot of things that I don't know how to trigger. Things like upgrades. You can't really trigger attack/defense upgrades automatically to happen during the game.
4) If certain "scenarios" happen in the game, a pimpest play could be triggered. Such pimpest plays would include: + Show Spoiler + - if boxer vs ra (or any protoss) has a nuke+ghost+dropship+science vessel -> he would automatically have all the tools to successfully emp nuke - if opponent has so many observers + carriers and boxer has so many medics + wraiths, computer medics will spawn and blind all the opponents observers - if savior vs TT mu, and TT goes all-in to take out savior, savior cannot be eliminated. for TT game must be won via standard play. - if july vs rock mu, and july sauron zergs, then computers will take over for both players and you'll get to watch an epic cinematic of mass insane triggered battles with lots and lots of blood. - etc. etc. - if bisu vs savior mu, savior loses a set # of overlords every set amount of time after a set # of minutes into the game. - if boxer vs yellow mu, and boxer bunker rushes, the bunker is toggled invincible - boxer vs savior mu, if savior mutalisks count reaches over 16, boxer's goliaths will toggle invincible until there are less than 16 mutalisks.
and for fun: - whenever bisu builds a pylon, a caption appears that says "Klazart: i think he's doing the bisu build" - if plague hits more than 10 units, a caption will appear that says "PLAGUUUUUUU" - if a reaver kills more than 5 dragoons, caption: "reeba reeba reeba reeba"
5) asdfjkalsdfjkalsdfjlk
ah i had so many more but i can't recall them all. keep in mind this was around late 2005/early2006-ish and i haven't really been keeping up with all the new guys.

this sounds kind of fun you should make it

i will make it if you tell me what bonuses you want for each progamer and which map you want it to be based on

Whenever a non-Korean plays against Sea, they must DT rush.

Haha good idea.
And when someone plays as FireBatHero, the opponent spawns pylon hearts.

The Rock: Computer sends all your units with a simple A-move towards enemy base.

For example, July, known for his mutas could only make mutalisks and zerglings, Reach I think, could only make zealots and high templars. Boxer of course limited to m&m and dropship play oov limited to tanks and vultures
etc etc.
it was played as a 2 team game so 4 "progamers" on each side. I remember playing it with friends 3v3, a couple years back, and it was actually pretty fun. I dont remember any specific imbalances, although I did feel oov was the strongest out of all -___-;
edit:~
back on point, yes this would be a good idea! if someone could make it, it'd be great fun.
although, I'd think it'd be too hard to place all these triggers and stuff, so maybe making a newer version of the map i described? but with like new-age pro gamers!
This clearly sounds made up, if it was balanced than there would be no air because air > tanks and vultures, (Yet you say oov is stongest.... hmm...?)

Sea is a terran

Heh I remember when I made UMSs with my brother back in like 2002. Then we would play them together. Those were the good old days...

I know that but Sea is a terran so in the game he would be terran not protoss thus he can not get shuttles.

Yes if Sea had not done shuttles+reavers in pvp vs ME then it would not have made much sense.

uhm ok, this isn't a 1v1. it's a 3v3. so if your team has anti air to deflect for example July's mutalisks, why would it be so bad? and uh, siege tanks own.

haha I was just about to say that as well. Balancing this would be such a pain in the ass.

Oh you thought you won here is 10 more swarms with a shit load of lurkers

You would have to get an upgrade for savior. You spawn with "Current sAviOr"...but after hive tech, you can upgrade "Bonjwa sAviOr"...which unlocks adrenal glands, and you get free defilers, etc.

You guys remind me of Lastshadow, he had the macro of Nada...
On December 17 2008 04:36 Caller wrote: You know what would be a really cool idea for a UMS map? It’s like melee, but you select a progamer incarnate to help you in the game.
Let’s say you take Nada. Nada has good multitasking, so you get a slow additional trickle of minerals and gas to make up for your shitty macro. Also, because he’s just so good with mnm micro, all marines and medics and firebats get bonus hp or something.
Nada vs Nada - the better player still wins. Nada vs Boxer would probably be imbalanced; Boxer would probably get additional damage, or additional hp and would simply win by camping, or would be get outmacroed by Nada quickly making the game a timing contest, not a strategy game.
Now, you don’t get the extra macro bonus, but occasionally (every 2 minutes or so, after the 10 minute mark) you get a free mnm drop at every enemy expo.
I think it wont work vs protoss, because they have cannons at their minerals, and does not work vs zerg, who would put lurkers there. Also, the zerg and protoss would still need some form of compensation, because the average Joe cannot stop few drops. If you had one drop every few minutes, it could still be too much even for better players. Technically this could work, but would probably make the game really irritating for the opponents.
What about Flash? Every 10 minutes, a massive terran army spawns at your main.
Camp for 10 minutes to get a free army?
What about Nal_ra? You could get 4 free (unpowered) photon cannons at every expo and some other stuff?
Basically anti-boxer?
Pusan? Your zealots and templar get tougher, and storm is cheaper?
Perhaps this could work in some way - each "fraction" would get different stats, but people would start picking things e.g. "better zealots vs zerg" etc.
As for the rest, they are incredibly imbalanced. In Red Alert 2 different fractions would get different special units, which were entirely new, but in the long run everyone played the same fractions
In addtion, BW is an old game, so you actually cant edit the stats of the units. The way to bypass it, is to switch every newly produced unit to the hero unit, but this brings many problems - e.g. heroes do not need any supplies as far as I remember (basically marines are turned into raynors, you edit the stats of raynors).
