So today, I begin the 888 entrant round 2 without many expectations. I began losing 600 of my 1500 chips and feeling like shit (played pocket 10s horribly). Then I folded for 20 or so minutes and was blinded down to around 700 chips when I get a QQ and double up to 1400. Soon after in a span of 10 hands, I hit a great run of cards getting an AQ, 2 AKs, an AA and a JJ. After that great run, I found myself with around 7k chips.
After the first break, I notice this largestack guy raising and rereraising somewhere like 30% of his hands. I raise AQ suited from UTG and then he reraises me. I thought about folding but I knew I had him beat but didn't know if I should risk it. After a long period of thought, I decide to push all-in and he calls me with KQ. No suckout and I double up.
At the middle of the second hour of play, I find myself with around 12k in chips and pocket Aces in the big blind. CU raises to 3x, natually I 3 bet him to 3x his bet and he pushes all in. I call and then see that he has AK. Can you say eZ? After that hand I was rank 12 or so.
End of the 2nd hour with about 20k in chips. Guy with 10k raises to 3x and I 3x that with AK. He pushes all in and I have odds to call if he's got a pocket pair. So I call and he shows AJ, thankfully no suckout. At this point, I've made top 200 for a $5 payout and thought that was good enough.
Another very very big hand during the 3rd hour. I've made top 100 for $10 payout and there's around 75 people left. I have 80k and pocket aces in the big blind again. Middle position player with 100k raises to 3x, I 3x that, he goes all in, I call, he shows JJ. No suckout and I'm boosted all the way to rank 1.
Smooth cruising through top 50 and $25 payout, and I've still got rank 1 with 180k chips. The rest of the tournament is me folding most of my way into the top 9 (Final table doesn't actually play, all 9 get qualified for the Battle Boris grand final). Pocket 9s is officially my new luckiest hand. I knocked out some guy in 15th or so and the 10th place finisher with pocket 9s, both times hitting sets on the flop. And I felt bad for doing it to tenth place but I gave him a chance to make top 9. He was short stack and I negotiated with my table to keep folding around because the other table had 2 medium-short stacks that were being blinded out quickly. Guy doesn't want to listen and pushes with 66 and I call with 99 to set the flop.
Anyway, after all this mayhem, I manage to qualify for the Battle Boris grand final and win $25. There are currently 27 people qualified for it and I am so happy to be one of them (Open the tournament lobby, show players - Kim Tae Yeon). The 2 grand final tournaments are being held on November 16 and 6 people will go to the Bahamas to play heads up with Boris Becker for a seat in the PokerStars Carribean Adventure main event (This is the same event Elky won $2m in). Now that I've come so far, I really want to go all the way and win this.
Now if I do get to play Boris Becker in the Bahamas, I wouldn't be able to do so legally. I just turned 17 on October 6th and I learned poker playing @ Full Tilt high stakes playchip and low stakes cash with freeroll earnings (and $15 transfer from my friend). I recently dumped all my FTP playchips after going broke from $31 and hating my life. Hopefully, I'll be able to turn the $25 I won from this tournament into a sufficient bankroll. It definitely is going to be a lot easier because of the option of micro stakes.
