man, I'm confused. and a little drunk, but hey, er. The original post is about a club you're doing for your school, and you want advice; you've then got a list of people that want to play. so.. well, I'd like to know more than I do about chess. If you're going to play I'd like to play; if you're going to teach, I'd like to learn; if you're going to have an advice group about your role as a chess group er.. leader? I'd like to know the advice.

Just my opinion, I believe its a dumb idea to show people how the pros play because noobs trying to emulate pros usually do far worse then people who practice and figure out the best ways to win themselves. It develops their game sense, strategy, prediction, mindgames, and tactics, something you can't get from direct copying of professional chess players. Also, I think it's better to get cheap chess sets over having the students play each other through computers because real chess then requires more attention and you can trick people by looking in a certain direction on the board before owning them. Competition through ladders or monthly tournaments are also good since that will make some of the chess people want to get better instead of dicking around and making the same mistakes without a care but don't forget the people who simply play for fun either.
