In college, there's Internet obviously but I think there is limited access due to bandwidth. How does bandwidth work? Would SC take a lot of bandwidth? How about youtube? Just browsing teamliquid? Browsing other forums? Images? Explain to me. Thanks :D   | ||

That's separate from the maximum upload/download speed you can get. Regular internet browsing is rarely a problem without video. Edit: gaming is usually ok unless the college network gets overwhelmed and they don't upgrade it. | ||

One thing you should keep in mind is avoid the video. Yes, that includes Youtube, despite its terrible quality. Nothing will put you over faster than video. I have a 1 gigabyte per week limit, and the only time I go over bandwidth is when I watch too much video. Gaming doesn't take much, but it's possible that your school's firewall blocks gaming. Really, nothing should put you in danger of going over except video. If you're unsure, just get a bandwidth monitor. | ||

Right now my internet blows though, but I don't have a limit. 100kb/s :/ | ||

The term "bandwidth" refers to the amount of uploading and downloading of data that can be done across a particular medium, in this case, the Rutgers network. You are allowed to download 4096 MB of data and upload 2048 MB of data per seven day period. Exceeding the bandwidth limit will result in your IP being restricted to Rutgers space only for 1-7 days. Please see section 2 D for more information on the 7-day sliding window and how the 1-7 day restriction works. Please note that this restriction is only applied to the computer registered on the ResNet network – students are still able to access outside networks via other computing resources available at the University (RUWireless, computer labs, etc.). | ||

4 gb is pretty low (i had to deal with that when I spent a summer living on rutgers' campus) but it's enough to play starcraft all you want pretty much | ||
