Ive got a general question for anyone who might know...how is the super ACE match decided in these..is it a randomizer? Bcuz it looks like its often not the 2 strongest players, some of these picks are not ones I wouldve chosen at least lol
Redknights have it answered in the op:
The 3rd set (if necessary) is a single winner-takes-all Super Ace match where each team randomly picks their Ace. In Proleagues where there may be some balance issues, there may be bans permitted to avoid an unbalanced Super Ace match. K league sometimes has the worst performing player for each team come out in the Super Ace match - the Narak ("hell") matchup
Generally if all 8 players are deemed equally strong (relatively) they'll pull out the randomizer. This would lead to cases like yesterday where Stork played Light, which on paper looks a bit imbalanced, but hey, who would have known the result?
3 proleague night w K League and moonlight league also opening
The main reason strongest players don't volunteer to go out for the Super Ace match is because the way Korean culture is, if they confidently volunteer to play and then lose, they're going to get sh*t on by the viewers and the fans of teammates they let down. Better to save face by reluctantly going out after being randomly selected, you won't get sh*t on as hard if you lose.
Use of the ladder randomizer makes K league in particular very luck-based, lot of nights winning team is determined by how many times Effort or Sharp is randomly selected (good result) vs. how many times players like YSC are selected (bad result)
In major proleague Shuttle is infamous for the "ㅈㅈㅇㄷ" short for "점중엔딩" = "점중" (Shuttle's nickname) + "엔딩" ("ending") because he tends to lose a lot in the Super Ace Match and thus ends the proleague with a loss for his team (he also wins sometimes in epic fashion)
Quick question...how do you prevent cheating in these kind of online leagues? A player can just use a second monitor, or simply their phone, to view the livestream of their opponent, right? Or they can just have a friend sitting in the room giving a simple indication like where the opponent is located on the map...Or what tech choices he made...

Pretty much an honor system with knowledge that any cheating would mean getting blacklisted
They've been playing for money online for years with the sponbbang system way before these proleagues were even a thing, I think people are relatively confident that people are playing honestly
Thanks guys! Would it be much to ask for a game recommendation (1 star to 5 star for each game), side by side with the game result post? With 10-15 games per day it's hard to watch all of the games. I know it's a lot of work. Great job anyways!
Yeah even I don't have time to watch all of them so it's hard for a rating system but I will put a note next to a game every time I see a good one. Off the top of my head, Soma vs Mini and Rain vs Mong on Jan 20 was the recent epic ones.
Maybe others who follow this thread can also post recommendations after they see a good game. Just leave a note guys.
Btw looks like the big guns are back streaming but still no Major league today, instead Effort's still running his K League as usual. Today we have quite strong line-up:
K-LEAGUE, JAN 24 2023
[Team 1 ] Sharp Effort Stork Piano vs [Team] Jaedong Rain Mong Motive
SET 1 (PROLEAGUE) Effort <Polypoid> Mong Piano <Vermeer> Jaedong Sharp <Vermeer> Rain Stork <Polypoid> Motive + Show Spoiler [Game 5] +
Aside from Mini with 2 wins nobody won a game for Team 2. Royal with yet another kill-all. With this form he's bordering on Flash's level at the Proleague
Snow <Vermeer> Mini is a ridiculous game. 35 min PvP but no players ever cross 100 supply, and until the last seconds you couldn't tell who was gonna win.

Go to Soma's stream for the Observer view: youtu.be
If you want FP view, Snow and Mini both have youtube livestream.
Many good games today with the results very close, but then all were decided in two ZvZ matches. Queen edged it against Hero in the super ace. MVP Queen with 4W/2L
