JyJ hasn't been near half as active as before he won ASL. He still has moments of greatness, but has clearly lost some edge. Also players aren't equally good on all map pools. He might not be that great on this map pool.
And does anyone know why SK chose not to use queens to counter Flash's mech army in both games? Was he intentionally crippling himself to test Flash's limits?
lol at how happy Rush was when it was clear Flash was winning the ace match haha. Also, how long before a zerg 9 pools Flash on kickback? Everytime I've seen him on that map vs Z he 14CCs

He is been toying with those goliath builds for a while now. It seems the first push is really hard to execute and if it fails, it’s extremely difficult to come back; but maybe this is a plausible response to SKterran late game struggles. That being said he defeated Soulkey in their first game, and in the second one, it just happened that Soulkey outflanked and outplayed him on the bridge during his push. It’s Soulkey after all.
I also wonder if it can work as a main weapon; it relies on the wall in and it seems to me that it’s an insta loss vs 4 pool?
Good to see Flash playing so well. His games against Bisu were absolute masterclasses on both how to punish greed and how to survive early aggression.

Flash didn’t go for a massive tank push. He had at most 5-6 tanks and a ton of goliaths. Queen is really meant to destroy tank based armies but they also open a window for terran. So i think Soulkey never really got the opportunity or the need to invest into queens.

That makes sense. Then the best counter to this massive Goliath army should be plague? After all Goliaths are clustered in a big mass, and just one plague can cast a wide spread damage, maybe even more damaging than to the bio army.

The best counter to that precise build i reckon is what soulkey did. Force terran to stay put with muta harass, expand, outmacro terran and try to crush the first push with sheer numbers of lurker / muta / lings.
Not sure where to post this but Speed destroyed Soulkey 4-1 in a Bo7 yesterday. But you have to subscribe to SCTV (the Korean channel) on Soop to watch the VOD. Soulkey also played two other Bo7 vs Best and Snow yesterday too, judging by the VOD length the score was probably 4-0 both. Also I found nothing on players' stream, as if they were requested to hide their stream VOD.
In fact almost all VODs from SCTV are now subscriber-only. The awful thing is I'm not even sure you can sub it without a Korean payment method.
This is so stupid because those games were initially recorded on eloboard but I think were removed later, maybe because eloboard's policy is the games have to be streamed/sponsored. So we ended up with a significant amount of games not recorded on eloboard since the beginning of this year. SCTV on Soop is not international friendly enough and even the number of Korean subscribers is standing at 35 or something so those games kinda ended up in a void.

They were chinese spons that starcast has coverage rights for since july. these chinese spons started in march or april. I tried to contact the organizers back in march and april to setup coverage for foreigners through artosis or saiyan, but I failed to get in touch because I knew not one person who could get in touch in my network. Starcast I assume asks to remove documentation of scores to hide the scores until the games are castesd in english for the starcast channels. Starcast did the same with one of their tournaments played last year. someone updated the liquipeda but then someone else kept removing all the liquipedia updates for the tournament because it hadnt been casted in english yet. ultimately it took almost a year before an english cast came out for it at which point everybody forgot it existed. the marketing and release schedule for the chinese spons and the tournaments is nonexistent.
Anyway I just know starcast covered stuff frequently gets removed on request but I dont know the exact reasons. A lot of starcast stuff ends up in the void because they just dont have an audience because it isn't advertised properly. Which it got more advertisement because it is cool stuff.
It's a shame that you can't see those matches from obs view vod though, starcast soop indeed cannot be subscribed by foreigners atm, not that I would want to pay that anyway.

Is mech TvZ new meta?
That series was insane. Speed played incredibly.
Looks like we are getting back into a mech meta era; what was most impressive with Speed is how varied his play was within mech; not two builds looked similar and they all posed different problems to Soulkey.
From what i understand, mech hasn’t been a main weapon for any leading terran in tvz for a while. I wonder how much FlaSh constantly toying with goliath builds since he came back has to do with it.

I think even with 14cc, flash can get up the full wall in time. He may lose some scvs but should have enough to repair the wall and his economy should still be strong enough to at least be even.
