So wait, they 'fixed' what has purposefully been that way, and led to one of the most famuous quotes on the forums. 'Working as intended' by MicahW
I was really hoping I read this wrong. So they have gutted yet another actually dangerous thing in the game. Integer Physical Damage Reduction is the answer. You needed about 60 for it to be totally nullified.
It was one of the purposes blue items had.
Also STAND STILL if you get hit.

Is there anyone in his 30s who would actually care or be impressed by that scoreboard? I doubt it. Considering that all the items are available in non-ladder, there is nothing else to care for.
It's not about the scoreboard, at least for me, it's about the economy reset that i like.

i could not care less about ladder. even if it comes out id be sticking to my non ladder characters. as a casual player that hasnt even got full bis items for 1 character despite a lot of time investment (relatively), why would starting completely from scratch interest me at all. id like to keep my progress tyvm.

That's the thing about thse kinds of patches. It is catering to those that are not familiar to mechanics that were well established, known how to deal with, explicitly stated this was how it was supposed to be...just to have people 20yrs later thinking they fixed something that was broken, and also thinking that they did a good thing for the game.
I am wondering when they will remove dolls. I mean, they are about the only thing left that can kill a player with no gear on.

Anyone still playing? I'm a level 44 feral druid and I just got 5 runes for the "honor" runeword but I don't have a good weapon to socket yet. Should I just wait untill I get a really good weapon? Or should I just go normal act 5 and see for a decent mace, then use the socket quest reward? Also, how do you know if it gets 5 sockets or not when using that quest? Hate to see it wasted.
I also read that it is suggested I get a hellfire torch, but isn't that very hard at my level? :o

Certain weapons have certain maximum socket count. You can also farm hell cows later for socketed bases, and use the socket recipe in the Horadric Cube.
You can't even equip a torch at your level, and it is indeed pretty hard to get one yourself. Your best bet is to trade for a low roll torch once you get to the right level and have something worth trading for it.

played a bit today, probably first time in a month. Was real smooth, didn't have any server issues creating games, or lag inside

I got the right ilevel but unfortunately didnt check max sockets (doh) so get 6 sockets on a mace. Got 4 runes with +20% attackspeed though, so it worked out great since fury steals life and a perfect skull gets me mana for fury, so overall its a pretty great character now.
Loving wherewolf atm, its slow as fuck up to lvl 30 but once u get fury going, its fun as hell.
Tried to join some public games, but it seems nobody wants to talk or anything, and pretty much off doing their own things.

Even when people play together, if you're not farming levels or clearing specific areas, mostly people do their own thing; it's more efficient to split up for MF for example. If you want someone to progress with, find/play with friends! There are Discord communities for D2 where people organize gaming sessions and etc.

hugeeee patch incoming. gotta say i didnt think they would actually devote the resources to this but im pleasantly surprised. then again i kind of saw this coming seeing as d4's development has gone to shit and blizzard dont have any other way to appease diablo fans for the forseeable future.
skill balancing will overall be pretty predictable imo but the changes to sets and new runewords is going to be exciting. unfortunately it will also force me to create a new ladder character despite my protests

This is terrifying, but in a good way. I think. I dunno, I'll have to see what the actual changes are.

Glad Blizz going big dick with the changes. Almost all these announced changes has alrezdy been executed by some D2 mods. I dare say they may even have been inspired by them.

If you are playing a werewolf and are not used to how all their stuff really works, you should probably be made aware of the attack speed calculators for them https://planetdiablo.eu/diablo2/calcs/speedcalc/speedcalc_english.php

ptr is kind of fun to fuck around with, lvl 99 chars and gear to mess with

wow looking really good on the patch news tbh All the skill change stuff sound good/great, and the mercenary stuff also perfect (I was still using the other mercs than A2 but clearly the aura of the A2 mercs make them a bit too good in comparison many times) (I would also add in my opinion, it seems a bit too easy to gear a merc such as a A2 merc in a way that they are able to for example one shot a player character who are some level belows in pvp) And it sounds good to see some new runewords or changes in that area. In my opinion, in this game the most highly geared characters are too strong in comparison to the strongest monsters, and the difficulty becomes too low. So I would suggest probably making the strongest 1.10 runeword weaker actually, and careful with the power level of the best runeword (heck there are even cheap 1.10 runewords that are too good compared to most/any other option of that level or rarity). Perhaps it would be good to add some difficulty to various high level areas. And perhaps even add a few lvl 85 stuff. Well I am quite excited to play when ladder starts, hoping that I won't run into frequent crashes that may kill your character.
[oh also I gotta add this: if there is one thing that would be good to revert from a previous patch imo, it's the increase of HP per monster by only +50% per extra player in the game instead of +100%, because it seems clearly always faster and easier to play with more players! perhaps give the monsters some more strength per extra player so that it balances the game a bit more, between the possible amounts of players in a game? There are a few other changes from patch 1.10 that seems like a negative effect, like mana potions being buyable and the insight runeword leading to no-energy stat builds with 1-2 maxed synergized skills, drinking potions breezing through everything with 8 players etc. Also full rejuv are too much imo, and suggest cooldown on normal-rejuv or something. Or maybe full rejuv ok but with cooldown or something. debatable eh? Btw pvp seems to have issue with potions also since players use rules to forbid them etc (?) i mean i wouldn't want to use rules if I pvp i'd just do with what I'm allowed by the game you know, idk how actually problematic potion usage is in pvp, I suppose some characters are able to never die with them or something. Which I don't know how good or bad that would be in the context of PK in HC for example. I guess you'd want it to be POSSIBLE to assassinate almost any character if they try to take the fight and expose themselves too much or something. Oh and uh, what do you think about taking teleport away from non-sorcs I've seen that said by many others it doesn't seem great, enigma too good etc.].
[another suggestion?? make XP obtained by (party members) characters very reduced if the monster was killed by a higher level character. Currently if a lvl 60 characters kills everything around you at lvl 30, you can just get boosted like this infinitely. Instead make it so that the xp penalty of the lvl 60 also applies to the characters who are actually lvl 30 so that boosting doesn't beat everything else in reward efficiency while also being the easiest possible way to play. And, remove/reduce the loot from monsters if the monster is too many levels below the character who killed it]
