So in cyberpunk's main storyline, you got johnny silverhand trying to take over your body (rather unwillingly tbf). So it makes sense that your only goal at that point is to get rid of him. But the game has 14897124 missions that it wants you to do in the meantime and that's a big issue with the immersion.
Also I hate how I'm supposed to care for characters I'm told to like (looking at you jackie) This type of show don't tell issue was much better handled in the witcher imo.
I'm having a great time with cyberpunk. A lot of the hate out there is pretty hilariously wrong "its not an rpg". If anything there are a few things I thought would for sure get hate for that I've never seen anyone mention. Keanu is a legitimately large part of the game and not a shitty cameo like in ghost recon. Panam also is best companion.
Super spoilery don't click if you don't want a spoiler+ Show Spoiler +
The Woman from the trailer getting called a "cunt of fuckable meat" then having her brain fried, raped, kidnapped and is forced to being made to feel that her body is exploding, and then kills herself. And I'm not even going to get in on how offended I feel I really should be about the side quest where a guy literally reenacts the crucifixion of Christ so it can get recorded so people can literally experience what its like to be killed like christ. You pray with the guy before he goes through with it and can stop him if you want or fucking pray with him before hands before being the person who fucking crucified him. what in the fuck is this madness that no one is talking about.
how can you get mad at a game with absolute bangers like this
Isn't that a general issue with pretty much every open world-ish RPG? How often did the final boss start channeling his spell of world destruction or kidnap the princess to do nefarious things only to then sit around for days while we go help that poor gal get all the chickens that are running around in town back into her shed?
The good solution would be not creating a point of no return, i.e. not getting rid of Johnny Silver I guess. Haven't played the game, so pls no more spoilers about the ending. But considering how much time Zelda spent imprisoned while I prioritized milking cows or shooting targets at the range that really doesn't sound like a big deal to me.
But when craftng a coherent world it does make a difference (to me at least) If you look at rockstar games (GTA / RDR) you still get a great storyline but the world and the storyline fit in a much more coherent way. Believability has been a really big pet peeve of mine recently in games and Cyberpunk's story rubs me the wrong way.
Beliveability and coherency are not words I would describe any rockstar game. Most of their games is lurching from one wacky set piece to another or bland filler fooling people as "immersion"
