Your government should have done this earlier, because this could prevent more people from getting infected.

Oman cancelled all visa starting from the 15th. All tourists forbidden.
So I at least have to change my flight, trying to reach the company but they must be completely overloaded with calls... We'll try to just transit through, and hopefully bringing the date forward to leave as soon as possible before the last stop on the journey refuses us as well :-p

My mom works at an insurance company with 4000 people in the main building crammed together in cubicles and theyre still not doing anything about people working, so I expect to see Virginia be a shit show sooner or later.
The only thing this company has mandated is that if you were scheduled to leave the country and come back then youll have paid self quarantine time, but otherwise its come to work or use PTO.
EDIT: I also wouldnt be surprised to see a lot of people at this company die, lots of people there are definitely at risk people and people have died at their desks there for less.

It's strange how quickly the mood shifts. Last week I saw kids playing tag on the street shouting "you have Corona" and I laughed about it, the conversation on the news was about how it would affect the beer brand. Today I walked through a neighborhood completely void of people on the streets. I glanced at a window and saw a giant television screen airing some news show showing with capital letters: EVERYONE FOR HIMSELF. My work has been canceled, all my outside activities have been: no sports, no classes, no clubs. I have become afraid of others, I made sure to buy tons of canned goods and to wash my hand after leaving the apartment.

schools and kindergartens are closed now in german (most federal countries; that is) up until 14. April at least. Same is true for all bigger events with more than a thousand people. The government is giving incentives to companies to send their employees home with payment. Most of the public life is going to be drastically reduced i imagine.

Now our president has tested positive (only the first test, so it isn't 100% certain) after coming back from meeting with Trump. Nothing can take down our sense of humor and the ability to laugh at our own misfortune. + Show Spoiler + So conflicting reports about this, I've read that he tested positive at a couple of places, and that it's fake, and he tested negative at other sources...
Also, as predicted, with 2547 new cases, Italy overtakes China as the nr.1 country with the most active cases :/

The Canadian PM is in isolation for two weeks after his wife got diagnose, the parliament is close too.
My province has closed schools, university and the likes, I'm looking to go give a hand at my old job in the health system since I'm out of school anyway.

From today, gatherings of over 100 people are off, sports clubs are closed, people are supposed to work from home whenever possible. Schools are still open, though. But no police checks and fines, as far as I can see. Hope people start taking this seriously, the mentality is still mostly 'nothing bad will happen to me'.
And I still don't understand the toilet paper hype. 2 rolls can last me a month, it doesn't make sense to have bigger TP than food supplies? During the time of the month a roll can be used in about 2 days. That's 125 sheets per day.
It's also, well, toilet paper, it's not like you can't use something else as oppose to actual food, seems like a weird thing to do when expecting the apocalypse. Everyone keep saying there will not be any penury anyway.

We've only tested 32 people in our state and it's going to take 3 weeks for our local hospital to get kits. Meanwhile we have a steady flow of tourists, some from infected areas. Worrying to wonder how much cases we don't know about. Doesn't seem to be much quarantine measures.

I'm starting to think we may end up coming out ahead by the entire fucking country being sick for like 2 weeks then we're back to normal. It's like we're doing such a bad job at managing this that it'll be horrible, tons of people die, then we're peachy.

Trump to announce a “national emergency” situation today. I’m a bit concerned because my wife is on the other side of the country right now and my small company will be greatly impacted if he enforces mandatory business closures. Not that I’m opposed to it at all because it’s the right thing to do, but getting my wife home safe and healthy is all I want.

It's crazy here in Southern California, a few confirmed cases near me and also one person died yesterday not far from me as well in Pomona..This shit is crazy. It seems like the Zombie Apocalypse to me happening in real time. I was supposed to go fly to the east coast for one of my best friends funerals, but I couldn't go, that alone made me really sad. I hope this shit goes away soon...Everyone here is saying Trump is about to shut down the entire country, let's see.

One take I enjoyed was that the cuts to government that preceded this mess were the functional equivalent of selling a spare tire because it isn’t needed regularly. Not having it around is easily forgotten until it is needed.

The US was in deep threat in front of the mysterious "deep state" organize by shadowing figure who were suspected of "knowing stuff". What's a little virus against that?
Also, who's administering health services in the US, mostly federal or state level?

Thanks! She flew into San Francisco on Wed. night and comes back Monday - luckily she’s staying out of populated areas throughout. Fingers crossed, because her grandma is currently living with us (thankfully she doesn’t go out) and she has major heart disease and diabetes, which are two huge risk factors.
