This may already be known but it is something I just figured out today. If a lurker is moving and you want it to burrow, it is faster to press "stop" or "hold position" before you burrow. I don't know the reason behind this but I assume it has something to do with removing the deceleration.
In this video I have 2 lurkers moving and tell the top lurker to burrow and then the bottom lurker to burrow. The first 3 times I just tell them both to burrow normally so you can see what it looks like..but after the 30 second mark of the video I press "stop" before I tell the bottom lurker to burrow. Even though the bottom lurker is commanded to burrow after the top lurker, it goes into the ground faster than the top lurker when using the stop command.
Like I said before, this may already be known but I found it cool nevertheless.
it was known in korea for a few years at least, i remember one of the girls in korea talking about it 2years ago, she also mentioned some overlord drop tech and other stuff. super useful, and pretty much mandatory tech to learn!

It doesn't matter to me where it is...i just wasn't sure if it was appropriate to be in the strategy section.

ah interesting. I had just never heard it mentioned before. when i first noticed the stop trick I msged a few zerg players on twitch and they didn't seem aware of it.

At least what I know is that you can stack overlords and unload units inside all the overlords at once by using the unload command on the stack of overlords as they fly as a stack. The only challenge is that it's really hard to try and keep them stacked compared to muta or other flying units since they seem to drift around more, maybe because of lower speed, bigger size or smthg.
indeed, its quite hard to do that drop method, also highly risky since the overlords can be taken down by splash damage and lose you the game instantly. it is really cool when it works tho^^
i cant imagine if someone could make it usefull in a real game when you have to control 3 or more groups of units: for example lurkers hydras and zerglings.

u better imagine.every top zerg is doing it. what do u wanna do is learn it as a combo and it will be natural. When i was in Korea i changed burrow key to R for this reason.pressing s+r is better and feel more natural. The downside is that sometimes(very rare) i press s r but the r doesnt register and lurkers dont burrow.i suspect is cuz of latency issues.

I think it could take some time to get used to but I don't see it as too much of an added burden because you can press 'stop' or 'hold position' at the same time as 'burrow' for all intents and purposes. Consider the tech to make the first lurker attack faster. Most of the time pros don't do this because it adds a considerable cost. You have to wait something like a full second before the lurker burrows before you implement the technique. With this fast lurker burrow you don't even have to look at the lurkers and instead of pressing "U" for burrow u press "SU" or "HU". Yes, it's an added action but I consider it negligible because it doesn't require any accuracy, precision, timing, or attention...it just requires a new muscle memory to press "S" or "H" a nanosecond before you press burrow.

I specially slowmotioned some fpv pro gamers games nowaday and i didnt see that trick being used at all. I really like to watch how you will be using this trick wasting your apm and milliseconds time to control your zerglings and lurkers agains moving rines. I think you have great apm and you can really prove that this trick is usefull and gives some advantages in fights. But looking now - its a complete waste of apm in a real game
I tested it on lan and found that it could be a little usefull when you control a really big stack of 6 to 12 lurkers moving close together. If you want them to burrow all at same time then S+R could be usefull well. But in the main time in this scenario you almost have to control at least 2 or 3 other groups of diffrent units - for example scourges and zerglings or muta and zerglings so cant imagine you can extract some value from this.
well you are right.is not going to change your life.i see it more useful when u are attacking with zerglings + lurks and u are trying to clean a bio group.but is not making a huge difference and if it is costing you missing other actions is not really worth it.

soulkey presses "stop" before burrowing his lurkers at 20:31
larva presses stop as well at 18:22. I noticed they only do it when they are approaching m&m and need to burrow quickly. If they are just burrowing lurkers without any units nearby they just press burrow. these were also the first 2 replays I checked. I'm having difficulty finding recent FPVOD's of other zerg players that are less than a year old.

no problem, I'm looking for more and I will post everything I find..whether the player does or doesn't do it. I'm having difficulty finding any other recent FPVOD's of other zerg players...most of them are over a year old.
