The only scenario where the United States even comes close to some kind of maybe kind of civil war is an attempt at mass confiscation of privately owned firearms by the government That is the only issue that has the capacity to generate mass civil disobedience and resistance to the government And even then, if the government was serious, once people realized that, before the attempted mass confiscation even started, the police and military would overthrow the government and new elections would be held. Casualties would be small and it would all be over in a week | ||

Apart from anything else, it’s weird to me that the same folks don’t float the idea of a mass general strike, which would accomplish the same goal but rather less bloodily. | ||

True, I have ran into quite a few in my internet travels, although yes they are fringe. I guess they’re akin to people to fantasise about some kind of zombie apocalypse as they think it’d be a cool experience to live through, away from the humdrum experiences of everyday life. | ||
