But it's a nice spin on the BR mode, keeping it short, with a couple interesting / funny ideas like the drone. I think it'd be nicer to have access to basic weapons (default pistols or P250 for example). Also I think shotguns are a bit too godlike in this mode. It's the most effective weapon for low ammo situations it feels like.

One thing I like about this mode is that you will depend on pistols, shotguns and "bad" SMGs most of the time, with Assault Riffles and P90s being truly premium weapons.

Also makes long distance engagement less punishing, which is a nice thing if you didn't get lucky enough to grab enough money/weapons to have a long distance rifle at that point. Shotguns feel a tad bit too good though. I've been playing occassionally and shotguns somehow feel more powerful than in regular games. I've been sniped off with a single headshot from mid ranges where you'd think 120 HP is more than enough to sustain even 2 shots. I'm not sure if that's just a imaginary thingy or if some changed mechanic somehow affects the power of shotguns. For example the armor system seems a bit different to regular GO, so I wouldn't be completely surprised if some of the damage maths also change. In general, it feels like the mode still has plenty of interesting potential. Indoor maps could be a thing, money system has plenty of potential with map specific payments (already used with the money-locked storages) and so on.

Shotguns do feel oddly more powerful, but the best thing about the mode is that the rounds are quickly over. You don't spend half an hour picking up weapons and hiding before dying.

Dunno why you'd go changing a working formula to a completely different way of game xD

I wonder what happens if they bring the price back to original or close to it in a few months. People might have figured out enough cool stuff with the gun that it's still viable even if you miss out having some extra nade here and there.

I only play Deathmatch and Dangerzone online so I don't pay close attention to every change that is done (and in the case of the later, you have do do the best with what you got). One thing that I do like (and have been thinking myself since I first picked up the game) is that there is some variation among main weapons than just AK/M4 and AWP. Costs 50$ more than M4. If there's no change, AUG will eventually replace m4. There's no reason to play M4 when AUG is better in every way. :D
