On that note, I hope Rogue got a pay raise.

If there was no incentive at all, then they wouldn't have a team at all. Even if you take the ultra-cynical view that the SC2 squad is literally ONLY there because a rich heiress likes StarCraft, the team has always operated in the past with the goals and objectives of a "normal" team.

I'm not sure on the exact specific of the economics of teams sponsoring players, but there absolutely would be diminishing returns. e.g. I might buy some team paraphernalia because a team has a player I like, but I'm not going to buy 8 if they have 8 players I like.

If winning a PL + PL runner up = random , then I agree.

This. JinAir already has Rogue (Blizzcon winner, Sexy Boi and well known proleague sniper), sOs (2 time Blizzcon winner and well known out there player in general) and Maru (Maru). It's not like paying for Gumiho or something is suddenly gonna make that many more people buy their stuff, or notice them as a team. Also people don't have as strong associations to new pickups. Even if they did pick up Innovation or something, for a lot of people who follow the scene, the new pickup isn't going to have the history of team association. Proleague was really really good for tying eccentric players like Rogue and sOs to the JinAir image.

What ro teams even mean without a team league? Unless you're intimately familiar with the inner workings of these teams, how can you say that the players on Jin Air have so much better deals than those on foreign teams?

I'm especially excited knowing that Maru gets what may be his last remaining chances at a GSL title! My hope is that his body can hold up a bit longer so that we may be blessed once again with the opportunity to witness the kind of inspirational play we all know he is capable of showing...

Rather, since KeSPA teams take a portion of a champion's prize money, I hope they gave some of Rogue's winnings to the other players on the team.

Proleague was really really good for tying eccentric players like Rogue and sOs to the JinAir image. I don't think, that this logic fits. JinAir might have 3 high calibre players but fans don't like every player who is successful. So, for me, as a fan of JinAir, not adding other players won't change anything, that's right. But for the SKT or KT fanboys JinAir might become a new friend, if they picked up Dark or TY. Also people tend to forget that we once had a pre-proleague era in SC2. GSTL was mainly irrelevant back then and most focus was on individual leagues. Nonetheless teams were extremely important. Partly because of infrastructure but also because of identification with the pro-scene. IM was the team of great champions, oGs was the team of unorthodoxy, MVP was the team of mediocreness, FXO were the globally connected guys, Prime was the team with one really outstanding player at a time, NSH was the team of rookies, Startale was the one rival IM really had.

The other JinAir's players wasnt good enough. But ye, after the kespa team disbands they was like "some month so they can think about their future"
