Conversely, people who play those maps are not the type of players who are looking for tournaments. Like 99.9% of players who join a tournament aren't expecting Fastest Map Possible to be in the map pool. Also I thought donations go towards the prize pool? Didn't people donate for the tournament last night? Where does that money go then if not to the players? And totally agree on the racepicking / random thing. Makes no sense at all to remove those options when historically Brood War has always allowed random and racepicking (with exceptions in the Korean scene). Korean scene allowed it. You just had to give advance notice. Which in this case would make no sense.

I tune into these tournaments pretty much every Friday and have a blast watching them. That said, I think it can only be positive to have some discussion about the tournaments. If the tournament organizers feel like they agree with some of the suggested changes, then they can change it. If not, at least the viewers / players can get clarification and understand why some rules are the way they are.

Secondly, all of our previous tournaments on Battlefy had this verbiage under prizes: "There is no official prize pool as of yet, however, this may be eligible to change depending on donations and sponsorships." If donations were given with the specific intent of creating a prize pool, we would have given it straight to the winner. We have not given out a prize for any of our previous tournaments on Battlefy, and no one has brought up any issues on this until now, so I thought there was no confusion. That was our fault. We'll update the information on Battlefy to be more clear. Again, I apologize to all previous participants.

Honestly I never brought it up before because I assumed the players got the money from the donations. Only realized that isn't true when Ty2 said something.

Edit: Now that I think about it, I remember it being mentioned from the casters quite a few times in one of the casts I think.

I ask myself how many donors just donated to the tournament thinking they were contributing to the prize pool but instead it goes to hmm who? Also lets hope also if there was a considerable donation the organizer has the decent manner to add some prizepool to his tourney.as ty2 mentioned he was playing for 7 hours imagine all the time he used while organizers get it all

I think asking you if you actually watched the stream yourself is a fair question to ask if you're going to pose such controversial rhetorical questions and statements. I want to dispel even the slightest impression of dishonesty. I was watching the stream in between matches and I watched all the streams the previous weeks before. These guys are not here to make a cheap buck. They put a lot of passion, commitment, and time into putting on a good show and event for people to have a chance to compete The casters, DocHoliday, ThaDirtyG, and Herbmon say something along the lines of, "if you want to support the stream and the weekly tournaments you're free to donate." They don't explicitly state donations would be for the prize pool, so I'm sure no one was duped. Personally, I am not upset at all and would have participated anyway even if there was no prize pool. Even the tournaments weeks before lasted around 4 hours or so and had no prize pool. I think the only reason I thought there was a prize pool this time was because I began noticing the term low-money and misinterpreting it. In conjunction, I saw Dewalt participate which was really strange considering the hours are very European unfriendly, so he wouldn't have much incentive to play otherwise. As far as I'm concerned, they're free to use the donations however they want to as they gave no false sense to donators where the money would go.

You inferring foul misconduct of the tournament organizers has nothing to do with me inquiring about being more specific about prize pools from a simple misunderstanding. Just because I brought up the issue and it somehow led to you going off the rails akin to GGZerg's jumping to conclusions does not automatically brush away any insensitivity on your part.

Also, I don't really know what accusing me of bad mouthing people and talking behind their backs has anything to do with the current discussion. Was my assumption wrong that you were inferring the tournaments organizers were being greedy and unethical? I didn't use that as an excuse to bad mouth you, which I didn't. I just said that's not the case at all and I think inferring that in the first place was irresponsible, potentially slandering the name of the tournament and sk clan. I say that especially because you are making assumptions based on no actual experience as you haven't participated in or been involved with the tourney in any way.
