around 4 hours before tourney starts! Just a reminder that you will need to be registered in order to participate in tourney. You can register by clicking on the link in the OP and clicking join. Check ins start 30 min before tourney. If you aren't signed up by the time tourney starts, you won't be allowed to play!
|
Um... you know this post says the tourney starts at 19:00 which is a lie... 19:00 is in 10 minutes (7 pm). The tourney link says 9 pm which is 21:00. Can things plz be consistent
|
Check ins have started on the website! Please check in if you haven't already! If you don't check in, you won't be seeded into bracket. Tournament starts in roughly less than 30 minutes.

Ugh have to send replays before advancing . ..
|
|
Well the 'why' part is obvious. Anyway, do the players who upload the reps have to rename the file? Or can I just use the autoreplays files where the time stamp shows the order? I saw you just need to put the players' ID in the email.
Also, can we please be able to race-pick if we disclose the conditions prior to entering? I never really tvt, only zvt.
|
I agree with Demurity, players should be able to race pick. This is purely a suggestion and ultimately it should be up to the tournament organizer to set the rules and guidelines to follow.
|
@Demurity replays do not need to be renamed just be sure to include your ID in the email so the admin will know which match the replays are for. Also, next tournament we'll experiment and allow racepicking. If it comes to a tournament where there are little to no mirror match ups, we'll go back to the way we have it set up now.
|
Thanks to the casters for casting something like this. Makes it so much more fun to watch.

I don't mean to sound greedy, but I think what weeks have a money prize should be clear. The OP has "low money" in it and the notifications sent out by Jamesuh for yesterday's tour also had low money in it. Despite that, there wasn't any actual money prize as was listed in the Battlefy description. Some people could be misled and join just for that only to be disappointed. Anyway, good tour, I think 7 hours is really insane though! You casters need a break
|
I assumed they meant low money as in not BGH or FMP - which is misleading in itself cause as far as I'm aware no one even hosts tournaments for those maps. Conversely, people who play those maps are not the type of players who are looking for tournaments. Like 99.9% of players who join a tournament aren't expecting Fastest Map Possible to be in the map pool.
Also I thought donations go towards the prize pool? Didn't people donate for the tournament last night? Where does that money go then if not to the players? And totally agree on the racepicking / random thing. Makes no sense at all to remove those options when historically Brood War has always allowed random and racepicking (with exceptions in the Korean scene).
|
If that's true ( taking money from people without giving back / not paying prize $ ), this scene has no room for that type of stuff, players / orgs who do that type of thing aren't welcome especially in BW scene after all that has happened. =P

You just had to give advance notice. Which in this case would make no sense.

Yah, I agree with Jealous. I didn't mean for my post to come across as accusatory or anything like that. I tune into these tournaments pretty much every Friday and have a blast watching them.
That said, I think it can only be positive to have some discussion about the tournaments. If the tournament organizers feel like they agree with some of the suggested changes, then they can change it. If not, at least the viewers / players can get clarification and understand why some rules are the way they are.
|
First off, I want to apologize to everyone who participated in the tournament and expected a prize pool. When I used "low-money" it was meant to clarify that the maps being played on were low-money maps. The reason I included that verbiage was due to the fact that the majority of Clan SK members are fastest-map players and we were working on also hosting fastest-map tournaments in the near future.
Secondly, all of our previous tournaments on Battlefy had this verbiage under prizes: "There is no official prize pool as of yet, however, this may be eligible to change depending on donations and sponsorships." If donations were given with the specific intent of creating a prize pool, we would have given it straight to the winner. We have not given out a prize for any of our previous tournaments on Battlefy, and no one has brought up any issues on this until now, so I thought there was no confusion. That was our fault. We'll update the information on Battlefy to be more clear. Again, I apologize to all previous participants.
|
Wait people thought low money = prize pool? Wtf... lol?

Honestly I never brought it up before because I assumed the players got the money from the donations. Only realized that isn't true when Ty2 said something.
|
Players do get money only if the donation says specifically to give it to the winner.
|
Ah, alright. Maybe the casters have mentioned it and I missed it, but it doesn't specify that on the twitch channel or the battlefly pages.
Edit: Now that I think about it, I remember it being mentioned from the casters quite a few times in one of the casts I think.

Prize pool has been added to every Friday night tournament. Please refer to main post for breakdown.

I think asking you if you actually watched the stream yourself is a fair question to ask if you're going to pose such controversial rhetorical questions and statements.
I want to dispel even the slightest impression of dishonesty. I was watching the stream in between matches and I watched all the streams the previous weeks before. These guys are not here to make a cheap buck. They put a lot of passion, commitment, and time into putting on a good show and event for people to have a chance to compete The casters, DocHoliday, ThaDirtyG, and Herbmon say something along the lines of, "if you want to support the stream and the weekly tournaments you're free to donate."
They don't explicitly state donations would be for the prize pool, so I'm sure no one was duped. Personally, I am not upset at all and would have participated anyway even if there was no prize pool. Even the tournaments weeks before lasted around 4 hours or so and had no prize pool. I think the only reason I thought there was a prize pool this time was because I began noticing the term low-money and misinterpreting it. In conjunction, I saw Dewalt participate which was really strange considering the hours are very European unfriendly, so he wouldn't have much incentive to play otherwise. As far as I'm concerned, they're free to use the donations however they want to as they gave no false sense to donators where the money would go.

You inferring foul misconduct of the tournament organizers has nothing to do with me inquiring about being more specific about prize pools from a simple misunderstanding. Just because I brought up the issue and it somehow led to you going off the rails akin to GGZerg's jumping to conclusions does not automatically brush away any insensitivity on your part.

You re saying it without saying it to then people with more experience in this kind of situation tell you whats going on.as i said next time talk to organizer. Perhaps you're right that I should have mentioned the prize pool confusion to the tournament organizers. I thought mentioning the matter in the thread would be good to resolve any misunderstanding other prospective participants might have shared with me.
Also, I don't really know what accusing me of bad mouthing people and talking behind their backs has anything to do with the current discussion. Was my assumption wrong that you were inferring the tournaments organizers were being greedy and unethical? I didn't use that as an excuse to bad mouth you, which I didn't. I just said that's not the case at all and I think inferring that in the first place was irresponsible, potentially slandering the name of the tournament and sk clan. I say that especially because you are making assumptions based on no actual experience as you haven't participated in or been involved with the tourney in any way.

Both Friday and Sunday have prize pool and this will be ongoing, so every Friday and Sunday tourney going forward will be same.. Next week we will be adding a fastest map possible tourney for Saturdays and that will not have a prize pool. Eventually we would like to do all tournaments with prize.

I apologize for the rough start in this most recent tournament. We had some issues with bracket seeding so it had to get remade twice and that caused confusion amongst players. This problem won't happen again in the future. Thanks!
Also special thanks to SC2 Dragon for participating in our tournament!
|
nvm, OP was a bit confusing but their tab on the tourney did note there wasn't a prize. A bit unfair perhaps to draw in players from the TL thread that notes a prize pool when the tourney itself didn't have one, but now the Friday/Sunday tours have one.
|
The OP never had anything about prize pool, until we did add the prize pool. It just had the term "low-money" for low-money maps. It was on the battlefy page prize description that had the wrong verbiage which caused confusion
|

Major update guys!
We have removed this Saturdays (Fastest-map) and Sunday's tournaments. The Saturday one was temporary, however the Sunday one was due to a time conflict with a more notable and popular Defiler tour. We did not want to take any participants and or viewers from them as we start our Sunday tournament an hour before theirs.

I have decided to depart from the team as a regular caster due to personal dissatisfaction with the internal dynamics of the sk weekly.
Good luck to all those who continue to paticipate in the tournament, and those who continue to work to make it an entertaining community event. I especially would like to acknowledge the efforts of my former cocasters ThaDirtyG and HerbMon, along with our steadfast admin Jamesuh, and 80smullet, the digital media designer for their support during the time I participated in this endevour. I hope your continued efforts bring you all success in all of your individual and collective goals.

Just to clear things up, I asked you if you weere able to cast this Friday and your response was "should be." After having to find a replacement for broadcasters at the last minute in the past because their commitment wasn't concrete, I thought it prudent to only schedule commentators who were able to commit to the time slot.
I would like to clarify that I ask you and other broadcasters every week to confirm that you will be available for the upcoming broadcast, so I'm unsure as to why you would think that you were "benched" when you didn't commit to being in the line-up for this week. I told you on Monday or Tuesday that you wouldn't be casting for this week's event, which I believe gave you sufficient time considering that you weren't even 100% sure you would make it. I sincerely apologize for offending anyone or hurting anyone's feelings in this decision, but I wanted to avoid having to find last min subs like has happened in the past.
I would like to add that I am very appreciative of all the time and efforts that you are devoting to the event, and make sure you knew that your commitment did not go unnoticed.

A bunch of people have been asking for the link for this Friday, I apologize for not doing this sooner. Links have been updated, lets get that party started tonight.

You schould add also link to challange account since "See all tournament" link in post #1 is redirecting to battlefly and i missed like 2 tours becouse of this. I was searching tours in this link, but new tournaments was already on another platform.

Links have been updated for this weeks tournament! Excited to see all of you after Thanksgiving! From all at Clan SK we wish everyone safe and fun holiday!

If you have issues with the bnet chat (not being able to send or receive whispers), feel free to join our discord and use the #findyouropponent channel to find your opponents in the tournament.

Eywa its not like you werent in communication with Sky, he was finishing his match in Clash for Char. We have asked everyone to be flexible as people are switching between BWCL, Clash for Char, PATL, SKTL so we can make this work. Just because it doesnt fit your agenda for a free walk-over quit complaining. You literally bring 0 benefit or importance to this league so like I said before if you want to continue to show your displeasure I will simply remove you. If you want to work together cohesively id be more than happy to have you around but I will not dish out anymore warnings and I dont care if its on TL, or its on Discord. If your unhappy ill solve that problem really fast for you buddy.
