Well, my finals are finally over and I can finally start making some last minute preparations for my trip to japan.
I'll be going next week with a couple of friends, and the problem is we pretty much have no plan of what we're gonna do there.
Any suggestions for places to check out, things to do, or travel advice would be appreciated.
Oh, also we're staying the first week in Tokyo and the 2nd week is kinda up in the air. maybe Kyoto?
Anyways, much thanks for any feedback/advice offered

Akihabara is cool but I think it won't be as much of a culture shock as if it was visited 10 years ago. The internet means that technology spreads faster, and also prices are lower, so you wont find many bargains, and not much new stuff. I think it's still good for some retro stuff though. Also the temple off the side street is awesome.
You have to check out the condom shop. I dont know if its a chain or there is only one store(and I cant remember where), but its funny as hell.
Also check out a Pachinko hall. It has to be the single most soul destroying and depressing places I have ever been. Add that to the fact they are everywhere kinda took the gloss off Japan for me.

Akiba is no culture shock, however, Comiket is. A friend of mine got dragged along to I think...oh, C72, and was mildly traumatized :p Akiba simply doesn't work out too well for foreigners looking to purchase electronic goods though, the big places that you'll see first aren't the best, and you know it, but don't know anywhere else better to go. Only counter is just to sink a lot of time walking around Akiba, which isn't what you'd want to do probably. That said, Tokyo is a big place, it is pretty easy to sink time just walking around Ginza windowshopping. Shibuya is nice too if you have any local contacts letting you know where to go.
Haven't gone to play tourists for a while, if you are staying on honshuu then Kyoto is a pretty good place to sink the second week in.
Well, Haji should come along to give expert advice sooner or later.

Buy tons of shit and then sell it for five times more to weeaboos (people who idealize the japanese culture and wish they were japanese themselves, then when they finally get to japan they realize that it is not that much different and kill themselves).

for the 2nd week we decided to spend 3 days in Kyoto and 3 days in Osaka. We still don't really have any specific things we're gonna do or see which is starting to worry me a bit :p. hopefully all will work out though.
well anyways, leaving in 2 days. any last minute suggestions would be awesome.
