Making a hot air balloon out of tissue paper

Demoninja United States1190 Posts May 23 2008 10:25 GMT #1 I have to make a hot air balloon out of tissue paper. That's how the panels are supposed to cut. The bottom will fold into a circle so we can fill it up to fly and the top is a closed circle. The way these panels are set, everything fits together perfectly. My question is if my panels were like this. Would it fold together the same way?

KwarK United States41641 Posts May 23 2008 11:14 GMT #2 No. The former is an open ended cone. The latter changes angle several times and would be far more complex and less stable.

Shit if you can use paper towels some Bounty would be great..Or find some industrial paper towels/toilet paper. And yea wouldnt the paper just rip from the heat pressure? Bah well im not so much help.
