sorry to hear about the frustration. sounds like when i try to get sleep these days, teetering, extremely tired, but something is always itching and stopping me from finally going unconscious. i notice that it's a lot of problems. not the right timing, anxiousness, etc. hence, it's hard for me to recommend you just clean your slate of mind and win some normal MM games comfortably before going back to finished those ranked games. instead, i'd just say do some studying and learn something new with your heroes. do the best that you can and over-achieve for yourself. that's really the only thing you can measure and enjoy at the end of the games. the moment that players are completely satisfied with their play and decide not to change it-normal mm or not-is when you know that things are slipping and it's possibly getting stale.

Sometimes not caring took actual effort, but I always had it in me to just play some dotes and let what happened happen. Anyway after a long string of mostly just party queue, I started to put in more solo-q games and my rating jumped to a peak of 49xx. The 5K dream was real (much like you, I'm aware there's no difference but there's simply a lot of credibility associated with being able to describe myself as legitimately 5K, especially when all my friends outrank me). Suddenly, i've not only started to enjoy the games less, but I'm pretty sure i'm also not as likely to win (unclear if i'm playing worse or just less conducive to a team atmosphere). After making negative ground for a while, i'm sitting in the 4800's trying to figure out what my strat should be to push 5K without ruining my own games. E: I'd like to point out that of course the easy fix to my problem would be to just try really hard to improve, but I've long ago come to terms with the fact that i'm not going to put in a half-effort to improve and that I'm certainly not going to try to seriously improve because i'd rather just play for fun so... oh well.

Just accept that your MMR is right for the rating you should be on and focus inwards at improving. Even if it's frustrating to be at 3950 MMR that's where you belong right now.

Clearly this would be an option feature, but I bet people would use it.

I like playing defensive supports but I want to just abandon most games I play defensive supports for <6k core players. It's just not worth it. More aggressive supports that make things happen on your own make the game 10x easier.

of course, you will never know which situation you're in until the game is started and underway, so all you can really do is make the most out of those 30+ minutes. at that point who cares who your personal pick is, winning is the fun part.

It wasnt working out, so I decided to change it up. As soon as the game starts, I mark down safe lane with Antimage. I dont intend to play AM, I just mark down the safe line with him. In my experience people are a bit more cautious with their picks when they have AM on their team and they generally tend to make strong early/mid game picks. So I just wait to see what their core will be and counter pick it. In case some one randoms a core or is simply an idiot and picks a safe lane core regardless, I take mid, if thats taken, I go offlane. I never played support or jungle. In 3 months I made it to 5.4k mmr by playing 2-3 games a day. I ended up playing 7 heroes in total: Sven, Naix, Antimage, QoP, Alchemist, Void and Beastmaster. All of these heroes are strong at pretty much all stages of the game, farm fast (except Void, but he doesnt need too much farm to be useful), require minimal support and you can dictate tempo with them. Those are my strengths as a player and these heroes allow me to play to my strengths. I always buy my own wards/sentries if I cant get them from the support and never bitch about not receiving help. I rarely talk/chat, but if I do, I make sure I remain either neutral or positive, I never ever bitch about anything to my teammates. Difference between 4k and 5k isnt that big, people in the 5k are slightly stronger mechanically, but they still make stupid mistakes (I make them too ofc). The biggest mistake they make is: they focus too much on the negative aspect of their team, be it picks or misplays without realizing that the opponents arent any better. Its very hard to evaluate the game when you have a negative mindset, thats why people are so freaking butthurt in Dota and get pissed off so easily. What pisses you off is the same what pisses them off, so use that to your advantage, be the guy that will piss off the other team. My goal was to get to higher mmr and I wasn't gonna let some idiot on my team get in the way of that. I guess you need mental fortitude to endure all the shit on your way up. And thats not something that goes away, there isnt a mmr heaven waiting for you in the higher brackets. So the experience has thought me this: a) you need to have a handful of heroes that you are very good at and allow you to play to your strengths, b) mental capacity to endure.

http://www.dotabuff.com/players/131465760/trends?date=3month&metric=last_hits also stop picking nightstalker until you learn to play him better (49% winrate with a 2.78kda over 57 games and you're picking him on tilt whilst trying to get your MMR from 3900 to 4000? dont do it bra. tho you had a great kda this month it doesn't necessary translate to winrate by any means) spam another 30 games on your supports whilst tightening up your cs, xp and kda and you should be going up again, right? make all of them dazzle/omni/lich games and you just gave yourself a chance at another +5% winrate also you shud def quit at 4k and pick up a musical instrument instead imo lol

From my experience kills matter even in ranked, if you got bad kda (well thats expected as a support when you lose a game) you trigger the ''dont deserve'' rigged mechanism and valve puts you in the must lose group and in the next games you are getting retarded teammates. The opposite happens when you are usually best in team.Valve always punish supports mercilessly.
