Hey everyone, Nick here from Bacon Infinity!
Some interesting things have been happening with the Bacon stream and just life in general, I wanted to give you all a transparent update.
The Archon Super Series
Both me and Susan loved doing the Archon Super Series, it was a really fun way to interact with the community and really helped us to get a start in broadcasting, having said that we're going to have to put this project on a temporary break.
There are two major reasons for this:
1. We don't have LotV beta, a vast majority of the community doesn't have LotV beta. I know that Blizzard will be opening it up to the top 20% of players soon and that is great for a majority of people but last season neither of us actually played many 1v1 ladder matches and won't be included in that 20%. We feel like it's not really worth it to continue until the series can be played on the official beta servers.
2. In terms of value per dollar spent on production the Archon Series is really, really inefficient. Once again, we love doing it but the fact of the matter is that we were spending $100 an episode to get the pro on, spending a lot of time arranging the match and ultimately broadcasting it to about 30-50 people. For comparison, we spent the same amount of time and money arranging our recent Scarlett vs PartinG showmatch and that ended up getting us an average throughout the show of 900 viewers. This is particularly important to note because the Scarlett vs PartinG showmatch was actually the WORST thing that we have ever produced, yet it still brought in significantly more viewers than we would get from an Archon Show.
The Archon Super Series was a really cool #passionproject but at this point in our career is not sustainable, we would like to revisit it at a point where we can bring the broadcast to more people.
Life Changes
Just today I quit my day job. This has been something that I was wanting to/planning to do for a long time but I finally did it. Up until today I had a job working at a store called the "Bulk Barn" (Canadian franchaise, we fill up barrels of food and sell it by the pound. It's thrilling, I know). I had been at the store for 8 years now and was in serious need of change. For years now I have been trying to phase out of this job and into a career teaching English as a second language but I have decided to take a risk and leave the job now, hoping that I can figure something out without going into massive amounts of debt.
What does this mean for you?
I'm going to make the best of my brief unemployment to try and go full time streaming. The tentative schedule is that I will be streaming from 11am or 12noon EDT straight until I have to do online English teaching at 3am EDT. It's a long day of streaming but I want to be able to make it worth it. The ultimate goal of this is to get to a point where I can start to make money off of streaming and survive off of a mixture of that and my online English teaching. I have no idea if it will work but it's certainly worth a try. Susan will be joining the stream whenever possible but between her schooling (finishing a Masters program in Physics, it's pretty intense) and teaching violin she is still going to be quite busy.
We at Bacon Infinity still plan to bring you different pro-level broadcasts (we have two projects in the works that will be announced soon) but the focus of the solo-stream will be my attempt to make master league in sc2 as well as some other games if I start getting burned out by the ladder grind. I think it's important that I do push towards master league because of the casting and analysis that we both want to get into. I am a firm believer that there is a distinct difference between game knowledge and mechanical skill, and that a low level player can theoretically be more informed than a grandmaster, but the simple fact is that when we are broadcasting games between professional players there is an automatic judgement among some people of "why am I listening to this gold leaguer's analysis? He sucks". I feel like I do have the ability to make it to master league so I am going to take this opportunity to do so.
My last shift at the Bulk Barn is tomorrow and starting Thursday I plan on starting the streamathon. Hopefully I will see some of you in the chat!
Thanks for reading!

Streaming(even if you do it a lot)certainly isn't a thing that gets you money(even in low amounts)fast, usually there are months or even years of hard work involved. I hope you will be able to survive off that english teaching for quite some time, and wish you the best of luck. As far as league goes, one of the easiest ways to cut off silly remarks is just leave your league before casting or have extra casting account with no games on it.
Also lets be real here: Susan doesn't really need physics or violin, she already can be set for life as Daria impersonator.

If you haven't seen it, go look up redeye's intro to broadcasting! Great read for anyone doing any level of broadcasting.

Susan wanted to respond directly to your comment:
"Ever since this show 'Daria' came out people have been telling me how I remind them of it. So I have come to the conclusion that it is loosely based upon my life. However, what kind of self destructive person would I be in this Sick Sad World if I wasn't taking physics and had learned to play violin at a professional level.
Unfortunately, I can't get paid nearly as much for being myself as the writers did for stealing my life story for the TV show."

We have taken a look at it and got to talk to Redeye a bit about the event prep process, he's a great guy and great for the scene

We could always use more passionate people in the scene. Don't give up on it if you don't meet partial success this first time attempting to go full-time. It might be a bit early in your career to attempt that, but it might further your abilities enough so that you'll be able to be in a great position at some point in the future.

As the poster above me states, this community needs more people like you who have the passion and will try something even if it isn't a sure thing. Best of luck to your endeavour, I'll make sure to give your stream a shot.

Thanks to both of you for the support
If the full time streaming doesn't work out we will go back to part time with occasional showmatches but we're hoping that doing this could really help to jump start the streams growth.
