In SCR 2015 news, they have cancelled the May 1-3 block, and are pursuing a June 5-7 date for the event. It will still happen this year, and they're trying to secure a venue for it.

I don't know whether or not this is known by everyone except me, so I wanted to run it past you guys before making a thread about it on Shoryuken or posting in r/streetfighter or whatever. I also don't have access to the console version of USF4 so I can't test if it happens cross-platform or not. I also also don't know if this can happen outside of training mode. Thoughts?

It's super bare right now, but I promise to keep the events calendar up to date. If something is wrong in it, blame Shoryuken! Let me know if there's anything you think should be in the OP.

The short story is that when Capcom migrated USF4 away from the now-defunct Games For Windows Live, the conversion to Steam was by necessity a copy/paste with some modifications. The way USF4 handles netplay is very specific and hard coded, and it did not interact flawlessly with the Steam API. Fortunately, those API problems that were unfixable in USF4 were fixable on Steam's end. Apparently, some Valve employee decided to have a look at it and basically fixed it in short order. And that's where we're at now -- with netplay as good as back in the AE 2012 days. This is a good week. [Edit] Here's a quote from someone who actually seems to know what he was talking about: The problem was a combination of the Steam matchmaking system causing long blocks on the process thread that handled it, and Capcom letting the main game thread handle the matchmaking. Capcom could have solved it by putting the matchmaking in a separate thread, but instead Valve solved it by making the calls block for drastically less time.

And for some solid-as-fuck Decapre play, Infiltration vs Daigo at the same tournament.

So I figured out the bug I was encountering: My framerate was set to SMOOTH instead of FIXED. I had no idea it could get that bad on smooth -- at most I figured minor graphical glitches and not completely different gameplay outcomes. So yeah, I feel appropriately foolish today!

Btw can anyone give a quick rundown on how to get into the Beta on USF4 PC? Or link to a post that explains? Apparently this last patch is really nuts in the best ways possible, like everything fixed... saw on twitter for a few days now but then you guys blowin it up here too. Gotta try it out!
