Ok. About as lucky a start as I could hope for.
Uzbek and Chaga + me vs. Buryatia + Oirat, easy peasy. If you fight Esen Taishi with a full flank (sortie is MASSIVE HELP) you can neuter his 5 shock. Sort of:
Full annex and release Buryatia, take some provinces off Oirat. Next up is attack Ming immediately. They are on temple and have some guys but zero manpower + steppe attrition is killer.
Gotta play super aggressive here, Muscovy had the correct start (attack Novgorod immediately). They will be taking expansion. Can't focus too much on ripping into China. I will loot them but I must turn on Uzbek ASAP.

I always forget using sortie =/ Haven't used it at all. My Ming is totally Balkanized so I'm waiting so I can vassalize it and then I'll war the other Chinese states non stop to feed them.
How do you upload your images with such nice resolution btw?

Could someone please explain to me how the ki gets troup access through the land of his rival? -80 opinion, how exactly does the ki just walk through that? if i am trying the same thing, it's basically -150 reasons against me.
Also, anybody got some tipps how to start as a very small indian country (Kathiawar)? I tried befriending Vijayanagar and just doing the usual, but it's like HRE in orient, after 2 good wars i am facing a huge coalition i can just not deal with. So i tried doing the ryuku start, building up a decent powerbase in india, then take champa and roll over s.e. asia. Problem with that is, it only works if you get a diplomatic constellation that seems to only happen once every 2378 years. Khmer, Lan Xang and Dai Viet are all three too big to vassalize in one bite and and just takiong one bite out of them feeding it to champa results in 90 ae, so now it's you + champa vs s.e. asia. you would basically need khmer or lanxang to lose really hard in their first war which is just not happening.
So i tried getting into gulf of aden but they have mil tech 3, so, nooo. And just waiting 50 years until you might have exploration and can do some cheesy westernisation strat is way too slow.
So....any tipps?

i feel that any serious expansion as a small nation requires influence ideas for the reduced aggressive expansion impact. otherwise youll be crushed by coalitions 95% of the time

How do you have 2575 money at year 1458 and still having a positive budget?
|
I would guess looting Ming plays a good part in that.
|
I'm not familiar with looting mechanics but I guess he would have to be looting from 1444 to 1458, the entirety of Ming to get that amount of money.
|
Hordes get double from looting and Mig has like 500 base tax. It's quite a bit less time than 14 years.
Since Ming still has an army in that screenshot I guess that's not the case, but just a couple of years looting Ming and you already get a shitton of money.

500 base tax would give you 2000 ducats an year with perfect looting.
Its hard to do that. I tend to average around 500 ducats an year looting Ming. But its a lot better than any other income source that early.

For India, you have to get acquainted with AE mechanics:
* Warfare against heathen immediately generates an addition 50% of base AE. So Hindu vs Muslim and Muslim vs Hindu violence will result in extra AE penalties. So a Hindu like Vijay will get in massive trouble if they start chainsawing through Malwa especially. * Know your cultural groups. There are 4 main cultural groups in India. You will generate more AE in the cultural group you take land from.
My general gameplay rule in the area is to avoid provoking the Timurids into a coalition. The best use of your AE against Muslims is vassaling Malwa imo. They have a great king ensuring they'll be able to do decent miltech wise.
|
That is solid advice, thanks. Didn't know AE is getting worse for heathen. Yuck.
The nice thing yout s.e. asia is, that they are isolated cultural and religious wise. If you ever get rolling there, you can take the whole thing without anybody else noticing. It's a wet dream for expansion, but i can't pull it off. And alternating between India and S.E. Asia is bad, because once you start to roll, you cannot have someone in coalition elsewhere. And the only way to do the S.E.Asia thing is to mass AE. So, i either wait for that perfect moment when either Lan Xang, Khmer or Dai Viet are manageable and small enough to vassalize and just rip through them all afterwards, or i play it conservatively and just nibble :/ Damn.

My Golden Horde game. Attempting "Turning the Tide" and "Great Khan". Kazakh, Kazan, Shivran and Gazikumh as Vassals. Best budies with Ottomans (even realesed circassia [was my vassal] so they could gank their ass). I love the sultan, really. Already reformed the governemnt. I get shitty kings though and things are moving slowly. Right now i am finishing muscovoy, wondering if its vialable to release them after i annex them, so they can bash everyone for me. No commonwealth this games (ther wasnt PU Poland-Lithuania at any point in the game). Notice how huge Austria is. Its my third game in row when they blob in this shape.
Next stop is Timurids while i slowly eat Oriat. I leave ottomans for last, somthing like 1770+ i just need few provinces from them cause they are in Russian region.

In my Mongolia game it's 1560 and I'm progressing too slow for my taste =/. Should I reform the government, I'm not sure if I will...

Could it be mission based? They only do it when they have the mission for it?

Probably the prettiest borders I'm going to have during this Mongolia campaign.
|
I remeber in my Poland game that Moldavia was spamming claims pretty much on everyone not me. At some point the had claims on every ottoman province they they bordered. (And i feeded them a lot, and they continued to make claims). WHile in my GH game Kazakh and Kazan are making no claims.
Marshes are better at it? Some inherent modifire to countrys agresivness? Surplus points depndant? I have to load the polish game and check Moldavias ideas.
