Sorry for not being able to play last time, my grandfather passed away before christmas and we were meeting up with my aunts to look over the house and things. Then my driving sister lost her car keys in one of the piles of innumerable table cloths and bed linnens, so after looking for that for an hour or so we then decided to catch a train home. Except then there was apparently an accident somewhere down the track and the train we were going to take was continually getting more and more delayed and yeah, in the end I didn't get home until like 1 am. Hopefully you guys had a bit more fun. Is everyone still alive? Is the hyper space hooplah ours yet?

First of all, my condolences. Regarding last session: The hyperspace hoopla is still in the possession of a giant monster robot, but at some point, hopefully his generator will break or somewthing. We recieved a message from the weapon company, that sponsors us, that we have to attend a few pubilicity events for them, as it is apperently in our contract. So since their last team vanished mysteriously, they had us representing them in a publicity event, where the weapons of different companies are tested against eachother. In the first round, we had it relatively easy, as Jalazar had the genious idea to buy superglue (" we are glueing their grenades, so they will explode, if they try to throw them") and Dalmillo had the perhaps even more genious idea to use that glue to lock the weapon closet of the opposing team. That resulted in the opponents being very underequiped and getting eaten by randomly generated dogs. We also managed to win the second round (which was nice for our finances) and than where in the final against a bunch of Gands and two more creepy dudes. One of those creepy dudes unfortunately decased in the catacombs, before the final happened. The finals were held on speeder-bikes after a lot of chaos and explosions (mainly caused by the Gands flying their bikes into other people), we emerged victorious. All in all we made a lot of money and our sponsors are happy, but we also probably angered the masters of the creepy dudes and the hoopla is still owned by a monster robot.

Also, i was thinking that if we attain a nice place like the hyperspace hoopla, but preferably without any giant shadow ninja commando guerilla elite death robots, we could use that publicity to hire people to do the shitty jobs like running the place and making sure it stays ours. Which brings us to the next order of business. We need a nice crib, something classy with strippers and gambling. There should also be a pool.and somewhere. Shitloads of BLING is also required. We need to make this gang an actual gang and not just a few people shooting dudes. So we need a crib, sources of drugs (I think spice is only produced on kessel, so we would need to buy it from smugglers, or can we have a spicelab in our basement?), distributers, shitloads of illegal gambling dens (I have no idea how we are gonna pull that one off, i don't think any sort of gambling is illegal on Nar Shaddah, which makes this incredibly hard). We also need to convince local businesses that they need our protection, and we need to get hyperspace waste which we then sink into an ocean (once again not easy since no oceans on Nar Shaddah)

He is a young Zabrak, 19, who goes by the nickname "Quaker" (He's a scout, btw). He has yellow eyes, white skin, and is covered in red tattoos. He grew up the eldest son in a large impoverished family and took to mugging, sometimes killing, people at a young age in order to provide for his family. Unfortunately pretty much everyone in the neighbourhood was equally poor and he didn't get much, other than job satisfaction. In order to provide his family, and himself, with some real luxuries he has come to Nar Shaddaa to "earn" wealth.

The long and short of it is, they did finally replace that guy, but it happened like ~1-3 weeks ago. However, during that period (the period of my working Sunday Mornings), life has gotten much busier. School is demanding more of my time, and I have put in plans for a very ambitious campaign with a large number of real-life friends. I really only have enough time for that campaign and my other real-life stuff. All of our past adventures have were really fun, and I'll likely always remember that CoC campaign; thanks for the memories y'all, I'm signing out for the last time. Later.

Firstly, sad to see Jack gone for good, but things kind of appeared to be going into that direction for a while. Thanks for telling us, though. Secondly, i am apparently a fool. I told a friend i would come to his birthday, without realizing that the fool parties on a sunday, and I will thus not be able to play next week. Thirdly, organisation stuff. I spoke with Lucas and Murgel for a bit about somehow reaching the end of this star wars campaign soon-ish, but not too hastily. Basically, try to head for a good (meaning interesting) ending of the campaign. Now, this leads us to asking what to play next. There appeared to be some interest in a Vampire: The Dark Ages campaign, if i recall our talkings correctly. I would also like to run some Oneshots: Maid, but only if people actually want this and are fine with roleplaying silly anime Maids. Don't Rest Your Head, Rules light weird horror RPG about people who must not sleep. A game in FATE Atomic Robo (The system we played in the mad science campaign) about foiling an evil Nazi Science Conspiracy during WWII. Everybody loves punching Nazis. This one might take two sessions. If someone else wants to run something, it would also be a good time mentioning this now.

So are you not going to be here tomorrow at all, or later tomorrow and not at all next week? I'd prefer the medieval vampire setting to the modern one, but that's the one you've got anyway, right? Also I'm all for the maid thingy, it could be great fun, or a waste of a couple hours, but I'm sure we can have an enjoyable afternoon with it. Iirc Murgel isn't too big on the whole anime setting though, so if he doesn't want to, that's cool, too. Fate sucks imo, but whooping some Robo Nazi butt can't be bad. On another organisatory note, what's up with Ted? Some time last week he wrote me that he doesn't really like SW and wants to sit out that campaign, and then didn't reply after I answered. Kinda miffed about that, to be honest. :/

Yes, we definitely need to hear from Ted. Are you still interested in playing? Is your computer ok? What's going on? I will officially say that I have rescinded my objection against Maid RPG after watching JP and the gang play it. I am completely, or almost completely ignorant of the setting, but I will give it a go. It seems like a lot of random whacky fun. Let's try it. Vampire, I mean I always loved the classic vampire movies, listened to way too many of Anne Rice's audio books (the chick who wrote the whole Interview with a vampire series) and generally have a liking to undead creatures and fiction... Let's try that too. Yeah, I'll gladly try all of Simberto's suggestions. I will say though that I prefer campaigns, but to find the right setting and system for one, I will try one-shots, especially coming off a campaign that we've played for a while.

Of course, having fun is the most important objective, but still, with a small group, you kind of have to be rely on people to actually show up. No one will hate you for it, and I'm sure we could work something out to accommodate you. The thing is, you're somewhat new, and you've actually played significantly fewer sessions than you've missed, so from my point of view, we definitely have to work something out for that.

http://www.evilhat.com/dryh_charactersheet.pdf What’s Been Keeping You Awake? This is the source of the character’s insomnia, and sets up what the character’s immediate history has been like. Think about: What troubles him? What pressures turned him into an insomniac? Is he running from something? Does he stay awake due to nightmares or substance abuse? Has he lost someone dear to him and the grief is robbing him of sleep? Why it matters: This answer connects the character to what all the protagonists in the game have in common – insomnia. It can drive further development of the character by offering opportunities for flashbacks. If it suggests something that the character is avoiding confronting, the GM may look to that as a source of ideas for what the character should face. What Just Happened to You? This is what happens to the character in his very first scene of the game – it’s not in the GM’s hands, it’s in the player’s! Such a moment should always feature a moment of high stress for the character. This may be different from what’s been keeping the character awake. Think about: What would make an exciting, stressful scene? Is the source of the stress mundane or supernatural? Did you just lose your job? Did a monster jump out of your closet? Did you walk in on your wife and another guy in bed? Did you fall off a building – and land without a scratch? Why it matters: Players get to set the tone for the entire game by determining the opening scene for their protagonists. This is a huge power, and should be exercised with discretion. The best opening scenes are the ones that say something about the character’s ongoing story – they imply a trajectory as much as an event – but so long as the “moment of high stress” requirement is kept to, all should be well. What’s on the Surface? This determines the first impressions the character gives off, and tells what is obvious about him. Think about: What does the protagonist appear to be at first blush (as opposed to what he actually is)? How do others see him? What’s his physical appearance? What sort of personality does he have? Does he put his best foot forward – or his worst? Why it matters: This answer will be a strong guide as to how the world interacts with the protagonist. It will offer ways in which the face he turns to the world can help or hinder him. What Lies Beneath? This speaks to the protagonist’s secrets, the part of himself that he doesn’t show to the world if he can help it. Think about: What’s the protagonist’s real deal? What would be a surprising twist that plays counterpoint to what’s been said about him so far? What secrets would he give his life to protect? How does he see himself? What lies does he tell himself? Why it matters: This answer can complicate the portrait of the character, and give him a real three-dimensionality. It plays strongly to character motive. In the absence of anything else, this informs what sorts of things might, over time, be brought to light – or be carefully, deliberately kept in the dark What’s Your Path? This question addresses the character’s goals, and points to how – in a vacuum – a story about him could reach its conclusion. Think about: Where is the protagonist headed? If a story were written about his life, what would its theme be? What are his goals? What does he want or need? Why it matters: This is the ultimate question in a game where the personal journey of the protagonist is just as important as anything else. When the character isn’t dodging Nightmares or navigating the Mad City, this is what his mind is set to achieving. Example Rob’s protagonist is Gavin McNab, a protagonist whose child just got kidnapped by something from under her bed (“What just happened to you?”). He’s been staying awake due to night terrors about losing his kid … and that was before it actually happened (“What’s been keeping you awake?”) At first blush, Gavin appears to be a bit of a deadbeat dad. He doesn’t hold down a job really well, and his kid’s been living with his Mom. (“What’s on the surface?”) The truth of the matter is that Gavin works for the Russian Mafia, and he’s been trying to keep his family at arm’s length in order to keep them out of harm’s way. (“What lies beneath?”) Gavin’s story is about becoming the man his family deserves to have. In the immediate, he’s interested in recovering his child, but more long-term, he wants to get free of his Mafia ties, and become a better father to his kid. (“What’s your path?”) An example for a filled-out questionnaire would be http://www.evilhat.com/DieselRemmick.pdf Further explanations: Discipline always starts at 3. Permanent Madness always starts at 0. Responses are how you react to things under extreme stress (In gameterms, when Madness dominates. You have three of them, which you can distribute at will between Fight and Flight. Your Exhaustion Talent is something normal that you are extraordinary good at. Your Madness Talent is some sort of supernatural skill you have. This can be pretty much anything, though the strength of the effect might be debatable and usually depends on the amount of madness dice you invest in a roll, too. Both of those are something we should at some point talk about if it makes sense. Scars you don't have at the start of the game.
