Thought I'd throw a thread up here for people to talk about the MIOM rankings. Right now, we're on Day 5 and through to Rank 51! Here are all of the links thus far:
100-91 90-81 80-71 70-61 60-51 50-41
Some placings of note to me: LordHDL (87th), Cyrain (74th), s0ft (64th), slox (62nd), Vanz (59th), Ken (58th) Zanguzen (46th).
In general, really interesting to see how far some folks have fallen and how well new players are placing. Definitely shows that the skill ceiling is still growing fast and that new blood is doing great things for the scene.

I'm kind of shocked Ken is still rated 42nd.

Yeah, he's really making a strong return to competitive play. Really interested to see where he is in a year from now.

Even 58th, it's impressive considering how long he was out of the scene for.

The exclusion of europeans (undestandably so) is what really interests me. If remen is ranked so decently, how would a lot of other really good european players who consistently beat him do if they came to the states? Just interesting to think about.

Nice, was just wondering a week ago whether we would get a new list or not.

Updated with today's release.
Shoutouts to Zanguzen for 46th. He's definitely a huge threat here in Tristate and consistently finishes well. Interesting to see Kage drop down several slots, especially considering he beat SFAT and Westballz at APEX.

A lot of the list so far is questionable IMO, but a large part of that is due to the ranking system and how #80 and #60 separated by 0.3 points or whatever.
Personal thoughts:- Connor is too low lol
- Remen too high considering his American results. If we take into consideration his European placements it might be justified, but we aren't, so he shouldn't even really be on there. He won an MLG qualifier over Kou (didn't play aMSa in the process), then lost all his sets at MLG and went 0-2 in SSS bracket. So it becomes an issue of how strictly MIOM adheres to the guidelines they put out.
- I'm finding it weird that so many players attended no major tourneys yet can be placed above those that did, and did well at them. Looking mainly at ZoSo here for today's update. I haven't heard from the guy at all in 2014 yet he still maintains Top 50 status based on what I assume are locals and name recognition.
- Ken is doing really well compared to last year (where he was ranked too low anyway), but I dunno how he'll keep it up. Dota 2 and Smash 4 seem to be his main focuses right now and he isn't really taking advantage of being in SoCal to practice with the real good players.
- So many new players is cool to see. Emphasises how the bottom 50 are pretty much a crapshoot on any given day, with several exceptions.

I'll just post the semiautomatically-updating image instead of uploading to imgur
Zoso is definitely being put there for his local results loool All he did this year was beat up on Mafia / MDZ / ycz / Crush etc :^) He did ok-ish at the SSS he went to though

Why is BizzaroFlame so low? He has a lot of good results and I've seen him do well against some really good players.

The bottom 50 so are probably relatively interchangeable based on how well they're playing on that day / the matchup / etc. This voting system is, tbh, not very accurate except as an idea of what "tier" a player is in.
I don't think Bizz has that many notable wins this year (a few good ones some over some Socal / Norcal players, but that's about it.)

what a jump for kzhu and zero

My boy Swedish Delight representing Rutgers at 56 :D Ken with a big jump and KDJ falling down a bit is to be expected. Mostly I'm excited to see the top 20 now

did anybody catch this pun
The one thing that remains constant is his own ability to stay afloat, always being able to compete with the best in his extremely stacked region.

the blurbs seemed more hastily written this year, lol
speaking of last year, here's a table and rating vs rank scatter plot for 2013:

I didn't... still don't
isn't that from Hugs decription?
Also: surprised Chu is still that far up, when was his last tournament showing? And wizzrobe's placing is incredible... 29th out of nowhere

Chu got 33rd, 29th, 9th, 17th at APEX, MLG, CEO, and EVO respectively. (It's all in my spreadsheet linked earlier!!)
Wizzrobe is rising really fast; I think he deserves his rank.
