France has a nasty tendency to do that. honestly i dont see any way you can loose if u play huge nations like castille. just ally austria and sandwich those cheese-eating bitches ^_^ It doesn't matter how big they were when you vassalized, cost is based on their current size (10*base tax). Speed is based on Diplomatic Reputation - it's like missionaries where a few modifiers are the difference between 1000 month conversion and 12 months. Annexing without Diplo/Influence ideas or a Reputation advisor should be avoided. Also the diplo-annex cost is doubled by Berber traditions. I'm not sure whether provinces added to vassal after annexing begins are counted or not. i took diplo as first idea, i didnt know i needed the reputation, thanks i can fix that ^_^ are u sure diplo annexing is influenced by berber traditions? i thought it was only for coring... thats why i didnt core a single province in my current tunis game... could have saved myself a lot of time, oh well -.- (you can not add after annexing begins, it gives -1000 that says u are currently annexing, im almost 100%)
Berber Traditions affects diplo-annex as of 1.8:
- Hostile core creation now also adds to the cost of diplo-annexing
Maybe you can't sell, but you can transfer occupation and then take it in a war. They seem to have overlooked a lot of stuff related to that, e.g. if you transfer a capital to someone else, you can take it along with other provinces without paying Full Annexation cost.

Has the game started crashing for anyone else since the hotfix patch was released?
|
Game crashes sometimes if it gets minimized by something else (like Skype). Not very common, has happened maybe 2-3 times to me since patch.
Also it would be really nice if your allies didn't give military access to people you're at war with. -.- Betrayed by Scotland.

I have had 2 crashes since AoW, out of 100+ hours. Still more than I used to tho.

just dl'd AoW - going to try for an Austrian WC as my first campaign - with the fast revoke strategies, it'll hopefully be slightly less tedious than most WCs are.

1460, only three reforms >.< I screwed up and gave electorate to the wrong country. I don't think I should have honored CTA when Crimea attacked Genoa.
I had a 5-year restoration of union CB on Hungary so I had to pull the trigger even though none of my allies would back me up. It was a nice little war - France re-allies Hungary the month I manage to enforce the union.
Also, did Paradox seriously buff Austria? I don't remember them ever having morale and disc bonuses.
This strategy is pretty hilarious though, using co-belligerents to beat up all the HRE minors and take their lunch money.

And both my ongoing games (as Austria and Korea) can be summed up as "Regency"

Anyone know why I can't claim Defender of the Protestant Faith from Great Britain when I have higher prestige (and enough money)? Is it because we have a truce?

Trade power propagation from downstream seems a bit nuts right now. Portugal has 45% trade power in Caribbean when I own all but 4 of the provinces in the node, and I have 40 lightships patrolling while they have none (Portuguese Caraibas has a few). The fact that Portugal has lots of lightships patrolling Sevilla shouldn't somehow give them massive control of the trade flow in the Caribbean.

Austria world conquest game is looking very promising. At 1614, only two independent tags remain in Europe (OPM Russia and GBR). Of the African Muslim tech nations, only Mamluks, Ethiopia and some random 3PM are left. All Arab nations should be one-shottable, expansion CB is almost unlocked. Ambitious goal I am setting to push myself is finishing by 1650. Will need to triple trucebreak GBR, 2 trucebreaks on Afghanistan / Baluchistan - it will be ugly RR-wise, should be fun.
In retrospect I should have kept my diplotech at 9. I'd be able to one-shot North America by this point, but don't have colonial conquest CB, oh well.

missed a few countries in terra incognita towards the end, so should have been around ~1652 if I was less lazy.
