As the title says. Stats can can be found here. Note in advance that this was my 170th game in total and I am still noob.
I picked fourth for our team. While I normally play support, I was asked by two teammates to play a tank role. I picked Doom as we needed an offlaner still. However the final guy for our team went Faceless Void which left us with only one support and me not knowing where I fitted in.
Sniper and Void took the offlane leaving me with a Warlock who was aggressively competing with me for farm. We were under extreme pressure from enemy Zeus and Pudge rotations and received little to no help. Entering the midgame we were facing a heavily farmed Clinkz. Somehow after trials and tribulations and a lot of idiotic feeding we managed to take the game late.
I took a lot of shit this game. It was not fun. It was frustrating. But despite the fact that I am still a total noob I do feel good about my contribution this game and that overcoming the obstacles of both friend and foe was a good experience. I managed to hold onto a gem for a large proportion of the game without surrendering it and managed to keep people alive at key moments.
I am finding many people in this game are total wankers like the ones I dealt with today but hopefully this is the first step to better things.
Any constructive criticism about my build or item choices would be welcome. I did seriously consider blink dagger but I generally found my teammates were initiating while alone a lot so I went with other options.
Finally; Doom kicks arse!

The only way to reliably avoid awful obnoxious flaming toxic teammates is to queue with a stack. Solo queue at all levels inevitably results in raging, flaming, obnoxious, ill-mannered "wankers" on your team. However, you'll find some decent people too. Add them on steam, play some games with them, and have fun!.
Again, the only way to have friendly teammates is to attach social consequences to their interactions, and the easiest way to do that is to queue together a lot and be friends.
PS: ur void kept timewalk at level 1 all game and levelled stats over it. life is hard.

I don't know why but I seldom have problems with annoying asshole teammates. I don't think it's me mainly playing cm. And it's not like I am the obnoxious one in my games. I don't know...
|
Obnoxious team mates are a small minority. Like 1 game in 5 has 1, 1 in 10 has 1 that triggers a second. Just mute them and keep on playing.

I've been playing DotA since I was 14. 11 years now. Forged in the fire of internet flames, I am harder than tempered steel. Literally 99% fire resist. If I have some guy flaming me who is obviously a fucktard, I just make sure to outflame him 3x more. Like, Sniper/Void offlane, what is that shit? Some 1k MMR shit. I would have told them where to shove it.
Honestly I would have insisted on offlane, and put the Void in the safelane where he can get better protection and farm. Sniper/Doom is more suited to offlane and could actually pick up some decent farm with their kits. If they disagree, looks like a triple offlane until Void pulls his head out of his ass. Buy Quelling Blade and steal every CS until he leaves. (I'm not kidding here - I've fixed a lot of stupid lane disputes with a QB)
A comment on your play - your farm was pretty bad. I understand that you had Warlock competing with you for farm in the lane, but Doom can easily come back and farm very well later in the jungle. Always make sure your Devour is on cooldown, be looking to farm jungle any time you can, and just carry a TP scroll so you can meet up with your team to fight. You had 85 CS at the end of the game, which is barely more than just using Devour on cooldown.
Easiest way to win low MMR games is just outfarming the enemy team. Every person in this game had sub-500 GPM, which is pretty bad. You can get over 500 GPM just farming jungle, which means you would be ahead of the Clinkz.
This is just what I can see from the dotabuff match, as I'm at work and can't watch the replay.

Thanks for the tips Uranium. Farming is definitely still my weakness.
|
Yeah, I was bored so I did some math. If you used your Q on cooldown assuming level 7 by 10 minutes, you would of had just about the same CS Farming is the easiest way to get out of shit tier games. I'm around 4k mmr and people are still assholes, but the incompetence is less as long as you don't run into Peruvians.

Dude, FV bfury, what the heck...and that invoker...getting exort at one then going qw...seriously I could name more faults about your teammates then I could name yours...
Don't feel too bad about flamers...they usually only just find scapegoats for their own mistakes...
|
Mana boots if you're gonna go mek because you need to increase your mana pool. Blink is pretty much a core item.
|
I try to follow Merlini's advice and look at my own mistakes and usually just mute my teammates upon the first flame. The majority of communication for low level games can be done through pings anyways.
|
The best way I've found to work is to do everything you possibly can to help your teammates perform well, even if they make terrible decisions item- or otherwise. The other day I was playing Dazzle. I saw our offlane Storm Spirit was low on HP but almost full mana. Well, I bought a salve and TPd top. I salved him and we made things happen. I bought extra tangoes to keep my safe lane farmer healthy. I buy wards on whatever hero (or first I ask the support "Can you afford wards?") and tell the supports they are on the courier, and a gem if it's essential and no one else can afford it (and I'm not close to a critical item), for example vs. an active Techies. Flaming does not help, even though I do that too. Muting annoying people and doing everything you can to help your teammates perform as well as possible is the way to go.
I think Invoker getting one point in Exort at level one is fine if you need the damage for last hitting. Going QW after that is in no way a ruined build. It's only one level. It's far worse to see QW Invokers (even Draskyl did this, which was frustrating to watch) proceed to add points in Q after maxing W. Deafening blast is just too great a spell to skip for so long.

Honestly it's better to mute those who can be abusive in game and focus on your own play. Although they may have wanted to blame you, every single person makes mistakes and you can focus on your own mistakes and learn from them. Flaming continues as you rank up too so it's better to start muting now so you can be less upset and improve faster
|
I recommend muting everything and everyone in your game if you feel yourself tilting, just untill you calm down and you're willing to listen to someones bitching again (but unmuting people after a won teamfight is usually the best :D )
Taking alot of shit and still winning feels good with a bad aftertaste from how I feel it.

Nice job winning your first ranked game ever! I checked your dotabuff and you have a high winrate for someone claiming to be a noob. Checking the numbers from your games it is obvious that you are playing on a low tier but this is also a great chance for you to improve a lot. I see you mentioned thinking about buying a blink dagger but then deciding against it as it didnt seem to be needed. This is a very good mindset you will need to be flexible at all times.
As already mentioned I think improving on your basic mechanics is the greatest way for you moving up the ranks if that is what you aim for. Things such as creating a lobby on your own and scoring 100% of the creepkills on a hero you want to improve on is not something that should be forgotten and overlooked for newer players. It might sound boring but these kind of practices will greatly help you excel compared to your peers.
Why I mention this is that you already seem to be flexible and conscious about your decisions in game and those will only become better and faster with experience and will need to be reevaluated on a regular basis. But good mechanics will always be useful no matter what you aim for when playing dota.
Sorry for imposing my teachings on you with you ever asking for them. Also try not being afraid of playing ranked its just a game after all.

I for one feel sorry for Clinkz. He tried so hard to carry his team.
