Or does he actually need to win at least a single one of those finals to make the cut? I've heard of people considering MVP to be the first bonjwa of SC2, but even the so called "King of Wings" never managed to roll right through Code S and into the finals 4 times in a row, plus, you could argue that the level of competition wasn't as high back then as it is now. So what's the consensus on this one?
First Yellow tier player.

Sorry for Cure but this GSL final has to happen between the top1 TvZ and probably the top1 ZvT. I hope for cure's sake it was nerves or Bomber's playstyle in DC or it's gonna be short and ugly. Bomber stomped Innovation too so this may turn out to be an even match. ? That was more than one year ago in a completely different TvT environment. A well-prepared Bomber can stomp anyone in TvT. I meant to say that loss should't say much about Cure's form in TvT. Any given day Bomber can stomp or be stomped by anyone. Don't read too much into it.

Wtf? I quickly checked results at work, the OP stated 4-2 win for Zest.. Now I'm home it's suddenly 4-3 soO? :D

I would argue the level of competition was higher since every Korean was present in GSL not only half of the good ones like it is the case currently and Mvp did travel around to grab price money. I think the first player that can get tripple crowns and stay super consistent in GSL might be considered for a title like that. If he does that for 2 Years.

lol, really didnt saviOr do that too Well... Flash went 6 Starleagues in a row (Nate MSL, Ever OSL, HanaDaeToo MSL, K-Air OSL, Bigfile MSL, K-Air S2 OSL) and won 4 of them. BoxeR went 4 in a row: Hanbitsoft OSL, Coca-Cola OSL, SKY2001 OSL, KPGA Tour 1
iloveoov was close and in a way a lot more impressive - in the span of 5 leagues he was 1st four times and 3rd once: HanaFOS Cengame MSL, Gilette OSL (3rd), SPRIS MSL, EVER 2004 OSL, TriGEM MSL
Similarly NaDA in the span of 5 leagues won 4 and missed one: KPGA Tour 2, 3, 4, 2002 SKY OSL (missed), Panasonic OSL so again - not 4 finals in a row but I don't think it's less impressive even if soO will win.
sAviOr in the span of 5 leagues won 3, missed one and was once 2nd: Pringles MSL Season 1, 2, Shinhan2006 OSL-2 (missed), Shinhan2006 OSL-3, GOMTV MSL Season 1 (2nd - obv. to Bisu)
Obviosuly Flash was in 6 freaking finals in a row: EVER OSL, NATE MSL (2nd - to JD), Korean Air OSL (2nd - to EffOrt), Hana Daetoo MSL, Bigfile MSL, Korean Air OSL 2
similarly JD was in 4 of these finals which is similar feat but if soO will win this, a bit less impressive - NATE MSL - Korean Air OSL 2 (missing only the final with EffOrt).
There are some results close as well: Nal_Ra was once 1st, 2nd, 1st, 4th in a row. Bisu was once: 1st, 1st, Ro8, 2nd, 3rd - impressive streak as well.
and worth to mention YellOw best series: 2nd, 4th, 2nd, Ro16, 2nd and some time later on: 3rd, 3rd, 2nd
The other way to look at it is that for a year (minus 2 weeks), soO was in every starleague final there was and if we look at some series: BoxeR's series was around 1 year Flash's series took 20months Jaedong's series was like 1week shorter iloveoov's series was around half a year (lol) sAviOr's series was around 8 months NaDa's series was around 8 months Bisu's series was around 8 months
for reference Starcraft Leagues Results/Prominence
So in short - it happened before and was (sometimes) more impressive, but unlike the other examples - soO's streak is alive and well. He may yet improve and beat all the records.

there are so many differences and changes over time in the way that finals and WCS/GSL play out that there isnt really any definitive factual/statistical answer to whose run is the best. at some point you have to just answer to your gut and your personal observations on who seemed to play better and more dominantly, who had the most impact on their league, etc.
thats what makes these arguments fun :D its no fun if the answer is just 2 + 2 = 4

I think what makes soO's achievement even more impressive is that SC2 keeps changing a lot BW changed too yes, metagame and maps but in SC2 blizzard keeps changing how units work PLUS maps/metagame keeps changing
It's much more volatile.
