the teenagers 15 years ago ( old friends of mine) still refer to starcraft broodwar as THE PC game that dominated their childhood lives they can still tell lively stories about legendary grudge matches , epic battles or funny anecdotes about players in their bw scene of that time
broodwar sticks with anyone who plays it for a decent amount of time

I don't care if sc2 dies or not. I only want KESPA to switch back to BW. I also want blizzard to not interfere in BW and try to keep it down or to subsidize SC2 even further. I want Bunkie back, the cute bisu fangirl, extremely exciting die hard fans and fangirls. Have you seen the GSL broadcast? It is sometimes so sad how they feel the need to pay girls to cheer in order to keep the illusion alive that people care for sc2. People care for the players they grew up watching in bw, not about the game. I only watch sc2 if Flash, Stats, Soulkey, Jaedong, Stork etc are playing. I couldn't care less for the ESF players. I hope that Kespa will one day go back to BW after seeing how much people still care, how many die hard fans there still are. You can have SC2. But please let me have my BW back...

While yes there were over 30 players in my high school football team but there are also tennis teams, swim teams and etc. While yes LoL is insanely popular over there, people will ALWAYS like to have more varieties in terms of esports. So there will definitely be kids that would want to play BW instead with different special set of skills. Ok fair enough, but do we have any stats? I think lol is at the top of the games being played by such a huge margin that i don't see kids trying to become pro in BW tbh. Without Kespa itself i just can't see how the scene can really become "sustainable" again. But hey, maybe i am completely wrong (and tbh i would like it to be that way, i never "had the chance" to follow BW in the glory days) and BW really rises to the place where it belongs.
No esports game is sustainable right now except Dota and LOL and I don't even know how long this will be. SC2 is only sustainable because of blizzards money. The BW scene will learn from the past that too much prize money will not be sustainable. Also running a TV broadcast 24/7 is extremely expensive itself. And BW had two of them (for a short period even 3 TV stations broadcasting BW). Why shouldnt it be sustainable without Kespa? I don't see your line of reasoning there... I think that LOVETV and SSL should merge. We only need one prestigious starleague. Maybe they should push it into amateur leagues and pro leagues.

People played melee in their childhood; and watching the 5 Gods of Smash duke it out will draw out even the deepest memories.

SC4 with automicro and automacro. New units like swarmhostcolossus, nukemine and supermule make deathball 1a more exciting than ever.

Well, to be fair, Swarmhostcolossus (a burrowing unit with a line AoE attack) kind of sounds like a Lurker, which would be pretty sweet :p

I think the second coming of broodwar will both depend on how this tournament turns out and how sc2 will be after lotv. While I hope for a broodwar return, I certainly don't see any other RTS game, that is threatening starcrafts place in esports. Inb4 warcraft 4.

The smaller tournaments could help new players get into the scene and the two bigger tournaments would resemble the OSL/MSL with their higher prize pool and open qualifiers (if there are enough people).

Blizzard botched the franchise I loved with their cash cow WoW Yes, as it stands, there aren't many RTS games and nothing that really compared to BW.

This is incredible. I really hope it is with a sustainable model so we can continue to enjoy it for a long time.

Ohhhhh such great news!! BROOD WAR!!
Really hope we can have someone (like Sayle) cast all the games in english, too Personally I don't even care whether it'd be live or a week later.

Also I think we now don't need more prize money. Take away 10000 dollar of that and someone decent make us a server with automated match-making and well functioning auto-portforwarding (even if portforwarding doesn't work, make something like auto lat trick as I discussed before. I think this should be easy to implement but I could be wrong)
