if you have an already balanced(ish) life (as it sounds like you do) and you got the time - go for it! look at mani for example

If you end up missing it or decide other aspects of life aren't as fulfilling, SC will still be there.

For the last four years, I had always been playing ladders and leagues and been part of a team. Since starting my job, I've given up playing even mildly competitively and am happy to play casual games. I've become more active in TL and watching professional games, however. I've looked to set up more LANs and events. I still love playing the game, watching the game, and above all else discussing the game (meeting up with old friends over Christmas, hearing "So you still playing StarCraft?" sends me rambling about it for minutes at a time). If you feel like your life will be missing something without high-level play, keep playing StarCraft. If you don't have time to do that but want to stay involved in the community, there are tons of ways you can do that. If neither of those sound objectively appealing, you've lost your love of the game and there's no reason to continue.

If playing at a high level is more fun to you, then do it. If crushing noobs is more fun, do that. If doing something else with your time is more fun, do that instead. I don't see the problem here.
