If you end up missing it or decide other aspects of life aren't as fulfilling, SC will still be there.

For the last four years, I had always been playing ladders and leagues and been part of a team. Since starting my job, I've given up playing even mildly competitively and am happy to play casual games. I've become more active in TL and watching professional games, however. I've looked to set up more LANs and events. I still love playing the game, watching the game, and above all else discussing the game (meeting up with old friends over Christmas, hearing "So you still playing StarCraft?" sends me rambling about it for minutes at a time). If you feel like your life will be missing something without high-level play, keep playing StarCraft. If you don't have time to do that but want to stay involved in the community, there are tons of ways you can do that. If neither of those sound objectively appealing, you've lost your love of the game and there's no reason to continue.

If playing at a high level is more fun to you, then do it. If crushing noobs is more fun, do that. If doing something else with your time is more fun, do that instead. I don't see the problem here. Sins also has a good point that you'll probably end up doing equally unproductive things in your SC time, so depending on how you look at it it may not matter that much. I feel like my life is a bit more balanced since I quit though.

I ended up deciding to quit, and don't regret the choice. If you don't have the urge to play anymore, it's probably a good opportunity to quit and explore some old interests you may have put aside for SC. I get more agitated when I lose because usually I'll lose to someone whom I use to crush and be like, "OMG! I have to start playing again to beat "X user" and restore my honor". Anyways Response you should just stick to [x.1] and casually game when we all play ![]()

I play when i can for however long i want, but everything else comes before that. For example the last week i worked 4 9 hour shifts at work and have homework to do now, not time for starcraft. But when i finish if i feel the urge to give in to my desires a little bit i will play it. But more likely then not i will end up playing Kingdom Hearts or some 360 game that i haven't gottent o play yet :D

![]() I kind of did this for me without the tight time schedule and all, but nothing major changed for me like getting a job and stuff. I remembered a hell lot of activities I used to enjoy but had been put aside for quite some time, sc being a major reason for this. I still play bw casually now but more of seeing it as a relaxing competitive hobby with the random public 2v2s and fun games with friends and stuff, with no view to mass game in iCCup and rep analysation and stuff. I still play some ladder when I want challenge and have trouble finding a good game though so nothing is off the table. It's just more of a mood thing and it's there for when I have nothing else to do. I've also begun doing all these non-sc fun stuff again and also devote some time in finding new enjoyale stuff to keep me interested. Really, life doesn't end in sc, life shouldn't end in sc. That's more of a WoW thing ![]() ![]()
