He's not a good defender, but he'd be taking the spot of Brandon Jennings. So... I don't know if he'll be better than Kyrie (when Kyrie starts giving a fuck again,) but there's a very strong case he was last year, and he's one of the best young PGs. Just need to find a 3-D guy for SF. there's talk of a rondo/isaiah swap. that would be interesting. also surprised pistons not looking at deng? i guess smith doesn't want to play PF? i hope rockets get their hands on deng before mavs take him I think Smith will play PF, but he just can't play SF. He's proven too old for it. It seems like SVG is really high on Monroe, and if Smith can't commit to not taking 3's, he won't have a place anymore. Plus the Kings were already interested in Smith before. .
really? well if you can offload smith then i'd take the first bite, i would have thought no one would touch him with a 10foot pole. one of your front court has to go, not sure how jameer is these days, he seemed a bit washed up last season but anything compared to jennings is an upgrade really.
rockets meeting with lowry first thing today, really hope we land him and beverley back to the bench, that would be sweet. then a back up C XD get it done morey.

I know why the Cavs did it but I can't see Kyrie's 5 year max deal ($90 mill!) ending well.

no GM would've done it differently.

I don't get why the Kings don't seem at all interested in keeping Thomas. Is there some off court stuff we don't know about?

I really really really really hope that Clippers trades Zach LaVine.

Shock, horror, the Pacers declined their option on Evan Turner.

would be really surprised if kings don't match offers for IT2, even a max one. They basically hit the jackpot and now they want out. Also nice job on drafting an unathletic no defense two guard to complement their 5"9 point guard, or maybe the plan all along was for a mclemore/stauskas backcourt.

Just because he's white doesn't mean he's unathletic, fyi.
And there's no way Thomas is getting a max from them.

I really don't know why anyone wouldn't offer max to IT2. He did a lot more than enough to deserve a restricted max. 20+ points and 6.6 assists per game? Enough for me to go for him for whatever it takes.
I know that Thomas-McLemore back court offers little in terms of defense but I don't think Stauskas-McLemore would offer more. I would probably draft LaVine as 6th man or Vonleh as a PF. Vonleh would be much better than Q-Acy imo.

was kidding about the stauskas/mclemore backcourt, it would be a total disaster. If teams are talking about offering hayward the max, then yea there's no reason not to give IT2 the same. But kings will go over the luxury cap no matter how much they re-sign thomas for.

Remember the cap is almost assured to fly upwards, and even the potential for that is going to drive some overpays now with the thinking that with the increases those won't hurt long-term.

Well, that's idiotic because Thomas is a mid tier pg.

IT2 is good but I would never want him as my starting PG for my team. He's 5 10 and a defensive scrub. He would be an ideal 6 man, he's got a little heat check and attitude to him. But max contract? That must be a joke. If IT2 is your first or second best player, your team isn't doing shit in the playoffs.
