I fully expected the finale to have a moment similar to the red wedding. I wanted to be shocked to tears. I think that's why I didn't care for the episode. My expectations were waaaaaay too high

I actually thought it was nice to feel good for once after the last episode..
I just rewatched the scene. Joffrey just plays around with the sword, Pycelle says "Careful your grace, nothing cuts like Valyrian steel." and he responds with "So they say." before cutting Tyrion's book. That's it. No looks between Tyrion and Joffrey, no nothing that would hint at anything.
Every odd season an increasing number of starks die, that is equal to the season number. Every even season there is a battle at a black location. So next season 5 starks will die in episode 9!

He must be watching a different show than the rest of us because nothing he said happens.

Those would have to be children of Ned Stark's siblings.
Lyanna is dead and Benjen took the black, so I guess not.

Ned Stark only has Benjen left, if you can really consider him alive since we haven't seen him since he disappeared on that ranging in S1. Lyanna and Brandon are both dead.

the only cousin of Starks that we knwo of is Robin Arynn, on Catelyn's side (Lysa's son)

NVM just realized Littlefinger said Brandon Stark got himself killed

While I doubt he has a particularly promising future, I don't think he counts as a Stark for inheritance purposes: the consort's (Cat's) family is irrelevant to the succession of the Stark line.
Every evidence we have is of pretty straight English succession, so if all Stark children are dead or presumed dead, and Ned's brothers and sisters are all dead, then it goes to the descendants of Ned's paternal grandfather, from whoever the second oldest was and on down to his children and their children, going male first, then female, running down oldest to youngest.
Bran is the proper heir to Winterfell, but if he stays on his mission (in secret) he's probably out of the running. Which means two people are now sheltering Starks they believe to be the legitimate heir. Rickon with StarkBannerman#43 has the better claim than Sansa, but both the Bannerman and Littlefinger probably aim to install their favorite, and Littlefinger is a crafty dude, and I wouldn't hold out hope for a long and prosperous life for Rickon. Unless Westeros has straight agnatic (Salic) succession, Sansa and her children are the most likely candidates for the post. Which makes Littlefinger's new job to discredit Lord Bolton (or his newly legitimized heir) in the eyes of the crown (mostly Cercei probably), then replace him (or kill him and replace Barry) to have control over the North with Sansa.
Isn't the north in turmoil right now? There should be ironborn raiders all over the north. An about the distant family, I'm pretty sure the karstarks were related to the starks some generations ago.
