How the FUCK could they offer only one news reporting course AND IT'S FILLED ALREADY? ALl the ENGWR courses are the only ones I can take and still work full time, AND I CANT EVEN GET IN NOW. Every other goddamn higher level course is given before 3.

Lol sucks to be you. Did you wait to reg for a while?

it's the second day. my idiot advisor had a hold on my account because she wanted to see what my grades are liek this semester because I was re-admitted.
|
My college is pretty bad about it too... I mean, I'm a senior chem major and I couldn't get into the lab section of biochem that I wanted (and the lecture was like 90% full when I registered) because its second semester and every bio major swarms in before I get a chance to register. If I really needed to, I could get in (I'd just have to hop through some hoops), but the fact that a major can't get into a 400 level class in their own major by default is pretty stupid.
|
I got in all the classes I wanted in.
I'm not pleased with the times some of them are scheduled for though.

my school does registrations by # of credits; the more you have, the faster it's unlocked for you.
do you have a waitlist system for classes that are filled? get on it asap if there is. also, if you talk to the head of the department or professor and you have convincing need to take the class, they can easily stick you in.

yeah, i spend like three hours trying to get a reasonable schedule last night, emailing the closed ones professors and such before i gave up and just smoked. i got a list of professors to call this afternoon. so much shit for something that really should so simple.
there's no public wait list, the teachers basically create their own and it's up to you to plead your case. (aka this sucks) thankfully, i work as a full time as a writer and do well in school, so that's helped me in the past. got my fingers crossed for next semester now.

This used to happen to me from time to time, but always, without fail, when the fees due date came up, people cut and ran. So happy me jumped into one of the newly available slots.
I don't know if this is common or if I'm just lucky, but my school used to always have an available amount of slots that was too small and additional ones would be eventually added or existing ones made available when people switched out.
The trick was to check everyday, all the time =p
Good luck!

did you reg at the last minute lol?

nah meng, 2nd day. i would had the first day but i had a fucking registration hold.
|
if you have a decent/good gpa, just bring your transcript to the department head and then tell them your situation. in most cases, they will let you in. if your school is smaller, you should know most of the professors in your chem major, therefore, just go up to the professor and tell them your situation (being on hold) and they should let you in.
even one last desperate move, just go to the class at the beginning of next semester and see if someone drops or the professor would let you in.
sidenote: i wanted one easy 300 level class to finish up my major, the thing got filled up in literally 30 minutes after the registration system was open. T_T

I never had problems pink slipping into classes I would always just email the prof beforehand, or try to talk to him right when the class started to be let in good luck
