Has anything else exciting happened yet or is most of the rest just filler in the anime for now?

It also seems like he might be joining the club of 'people who aren't braindead after observing Conan' fairly soon. Which of course means means he wasn't actually told yet.

His identity. Though looking back at 898 where Conan was talking to his mom, I think I misread a couple of bubbles when the Subaru disguise was being put back on. Particularly Jodi's 'shin-conan?' thought bubble that I'd attributed to Subaru in my mind for some reason. His actual response while observing their exchange does make it seem like he might already know, so you're right and he's probably in the loop. Looks like the current arc is going back to the task of ensuring every character, even minor ones, have a love interest. All the relationships in the series were a bunch of 'maybe something will happen, but nothing actually does' for the first 500 or so chapters until Sonoko and Makoto (of all people) got the ball rolling during that Valentine chocolate making arc in the snowy mountains. I'm rather curious about the event that made the author change his mind. Maybe he got married or something around that timeframe. Started a sudden cascade of characters getting together after that point. Even making up someone for a side character like Chiba as well as ensuring Shiratori wasn't left alone after Sato got together with Takagi. Makes me wonder what triggered the author to change things so drastically. Before that point the series felt pretty static, like nothing ever moved forward and no significant changes ever occurred. Also leads me on a tangent of how much progress we can expect towards taking down the black organization without the series ending immediately afterwards. If they're defeated, a lot of the reason for Conan to hide his identify vanishes. No guarantee that beating the organization = immediate cure, but even in his kid body if he didn't have to hide who he was then at the very least the incentive for the Detective Boys to get together would be gone, plus a bunch of other changes too. The author has shown he can write interesting stuff even without needing the Conan schtick, such as times when he's in his Shinichi body for the entire case. Bringing down the organization/looking for a cure does help tie everything together, but I'm sure the author could come up with a follow-up if he felt motivated to do so.

Haibara almost has the cure down as is she just needs to make it permament if she can get her hands on either A) data from the black organization or B) an actual lab then shed finish pretty quickly TBH the series is already too long it needs to get to its conclusion already

HOLY my mind is completely blown right now. Such a complicated plan, how can you stage all of that? they thought of everything! O_O What will happen now that Bourbon knows that + Show Spoiler + akai is alive? We need more chapters like these, I love it when the story actually progresses.

He's aware Conan is Shinichi, although he's probably not fully aware of exactly why he's in the form of a child. I doubt he was told anything about it and is simply aware because he's not brain dead. I'm sure he figured the black organization has a role in it since shinichi knew so much about them and their existence even though he's just a high school detective and not someone in the FBI, CIA, secret police, etc. Here's where he actually finds solid proof: http://eatmanga.com/Manga-Scan/Detective-Conan/Detective-Conan-813/page-16 And him basically saying "I know who you are" to try to gauge conan's reaction and make sure he is correct in his deduction: http://eatmanga.com/Manga-Scan/Detective-Conan/Detective-Conan-814/page-3
