It's time for the next HomeStoryCup! Dennis 'TaKe' Gehlen will open the gates to Germany's Nerdvana from the 05th to 08th of June for the world elite of StarCraft II, who will be fighting for glory, honor and fun! The last "HomeKing" title went to Taeja once again, who defeated Hyun in an amazing set of seven games.
To guarantee top matches and the best StarCraft II action imaginable again, we have set up three qualifiers for the HomeStoryCup IX. Each qualifier is dedicated to its own area: One for Korea, one for the North American area and one for Europe. This time, you can play for a total of 8 Slots in the Qualifiers: 4 players from Europe, 2 from America and 2 from Korea. Because our sponsors aren´t finalized yet, we can not afford to pay the trip for everyone. Every player who qualified, will have to play the Top 8 Matches: A 8 player single elimination tournament. The winner of this tournament will get a fully paid trip to Krefeld, Germany.

The SignUps are already available. IMPORTANT: Due to Problems with our Website, we will not provide a checkin! Everyone signed up for the tournament will appear in the brackets! All qualifiers will be broadcasted by Dennis 'TaKe' Gehlen along with one or more of his usual suspects. Additionally, we will provide an English stream for each qualifier. The caster(s) for the English stream will be announced soon. And last but not least, we would like to thank our sponsors! Without them, the tournament wouldn't be possible!

Does this mean that all the players from the 8-player single tournament are qualified for the HSC, only winner gets a fully paid trip but the others players can play if they afford to pay for their trip?
|
This is really, really short notice. This was announced while almost Koreans were sleeping, the Korean qualifier is going to have an awful lot of walkovers I think. It's also important to note that 12am CEST is NOT 6pm KST, it's 7am KST. That needs correcting immediately.

Is there a channel to join or we need to wait for an admin to talk to us?

Dude its still wrong -
Saturday, 17 May 2014, 00:00:00 CEST (12AM) is Saturday, 17 May 2014, 07:00:00 KST (7 AM)
Saturday, 17 May 2014, 12:00:00 CEST (12PM) is Saturday, 17 May 2014, 19:00:00 KST (7PM)
Even though all signs are pretty much pointing to 7PM KST now...

I am sorry. In Germany AM and PM are not used at all, and we got confused, if 12 AM is midnight or midday. The tournament starts Midday CEST - so it should be 12 PM for you.
Edited in start post

woah, that is an awful short notice to watch, hopefully the players got more time to register/prepare. Would be sad to miss most/some good players due to schedule stuff...
Because our sponsors aren´t finalized yet, we can not afford to pay the trip for everyone. Every player who qualified, will have to play the Top 8 Matches: A 8 player single elimination tournament. The winner of this tournament will get a fully paid trip to Krefeld, Germany. So 8 players qualify, the best 1 of those will get the fully paid trip ? Or just the 1 winning the Top8 tournament actually qualifies (and those 3 other qualifiers are just for qualifying for that Top8 tournament) ?
|
all 8 players qualifying can attend the HomeStory Cup. But only the winner of the Top8 Tournament will get a fully paid trip.
So we will have 24 invited players, and 8 players from the qualifiers.

My concern with that system is that you will end up with quite a few players who are shooting for the paid trip and when they don't get it, will turn the invite down. Do you have plans as to how to deal with that?
|
Kinda weird if someone from Germany or Netherlands would win and and the trip costs like 100 euros, while a player from Korea could really need a paid trip. Well a Korean will win anyways, but still^^.

Oh wow...what a giant mess... I hope there are still a lot of signups. And next time, use a timezoneconverter - it is quite helpful

He's signed up as iG.Jim#303 but I added iG.Jim#946 for you. If I get hold of an admin beforehand, I will make sure to remove Jims other account so he's not present in the bracket twice.
