im just wondering if anyone else on forum has experience with high blood pressure, palpitations, or heart flutters.
my history - smoked 15 years, drank alcohol 13 years (20-50 units a week, many/most weeks..)
end of last year i started having random heart beat jumps or skips, sometimes several times a day. on other occasions would sometimes get loud thumping noise in my ears as heart rate went strangely crazy, for a few minutes, after exertion (eg a set at gym).
i quit smoking mostly the past 2 months (i havent drank alcohol for 3? years except like 3 times) and the heart beat skips went away quickly, and the crazy thumping went away , mostly, after i started running more frequently.
a week ago i had 10 cigarettes due to stress week and today (and on other days) i had some caffeine energy drink. this morning i noticed my blood pressure was thumping in my ears walking up some stairs, and in afternoon after 500ml energy drink it was really bad, after every bit of exertion (eg after every single powerclean for 30 seconds, or after a set for 2 minutes).
so it felt like it'd gone back to being as bad as it was end of last year, just coz i had 10 cigs last week!!
anyway i don't think there's anything i can do except expect to die from a stroke pretty soon , and buy some fish oil. if anyone knows their shit, can you look at these fish oil (first ones on google) and tell me if they are the right thing? i don't care about cost i just need to know exactly what to get and how much to take per day..... http://www.naturesbest.co.uk/fish-oil-1100mg-p516/
i think fucked blood pressure means your arteries are pretty much irreversibly damaged . correct me if i'm wrong.

Go see a doctor. If it is true high blood pressure, you can be started on hypertensive meds. The most important thing is lifestyle changes - diet, exercise, quitting smoking (most important). The effect of fish oil is very controversial, especially if you're already in the red zone since it's more of a preventative measure and you need to take a crap ton (like 3-4 pills a day which no one does). If you can manage your blood pressure asap and keep in within relatively normal limits, you can still live a long life (no promises).

sorry i didnt mention, i have doc appointment next week sometime
i did quit smoking mostly, just was shocked when having so few cigs 8-9 days ago would fuck me up so badly when i was doing so well....

Hey, yea only a doctor can really help you. Could be that your just stressed and you experience this as high blood pressure. Could be that you have a high blood pressure...if thats the case, yea, time to change your habits....high blood pressure can indeed lead to many issues including a stroke....but if your blood pressure is that high you would most likely have very bad headache etc. I used to have pretty high blood pressure but your doctor can prescribe you with medication if its really needed...just yea...stop smoking....its really bad for your blood pressure. Try to replace it with running or something, you'll feel alot better.
And yea...its not good for your arteries...but if your still young (anything below 50)...i wouldnt worry about that and just change your life style and it will all be fine. Just dont worry to much about it until your doctor can have a look at it, and relax man. And if its really bad just pay a visit to ER if your really freaked out...or buy an automatic bloodpressure monitor...its not that expensive and easy to use.

I have genetically high blood pressure since high school even when I was state qualifying athlete. Garlic tea lowers my blood pressure within minutes Jasimine tea is very good as well. Important to note with the garlic tea it must be boiled from FRESH garlic to release the allison seed. After consuming the garlic tea while your BP lowers you may become light headed for a few minutes but it soon passes. The Jasimine tea works best with consumption but even inhalation works if your at all weary of practical meds and prefer alternates.

You didn't actually say you measured your blood pressure or what your blood pressure was. You know that headaches have a lot of causes right? And that local headaches don't necessarily mean high blood pressure systemically?
You are also being somewhat melodramatic. You are not fucked for life. People who quit smoking oftentimes reverse 80%+ of the damage they did.

Vitamin K has been shown to improve arterial condition in people with high blood pressure, even reversing arterial damage. Match it with high dose vitamin D and you are good to go.
Whatever you do, I would avoid doctors' prescriptions for high blood pressure. But then again, we don't actually know if you have high blood pressure.

i appreciate the replies,
igne by pounding/thumping i didn't mean i was having headaches; the thumping is the unusually loud sound of blood going through me that i hear, a loud thudthudthudthudthud in my ears which springs up rapidly after exertion and after 30-90s dies back down into normal barely audible blood sound. (or when i'm running, the THUDTHUDTHUD will come and go, though my heart rate stays about the same all the time). when i am fit and healthy, there is never any THUDTHUDTHUD in my ears nomatter what i do, the heart beats faster but not significantly louder.
it was significantly improved yesterday during tail end of gym and running (very slowly) home. i think i will be fine, just know that even 1 cigarette or 1 energy drink is enough to bring me to the edge now (1-2 pints of beer will also give me palpitations very quickly given what happened last time i had).
i like brocolli and sprouts so will up my intake of them for vitK (altho maybe K2 doesnt come from these..and vitK helps blood clotting which isnt really my thing right now)

When I put my head on the pillow at night I can hear the thumpthumpthump of blood too. Put a collar on your arm and tell us what your blood pressure actually is.

Cut smoking and eating salt. As for the fish oil, here is the best article I know about it. http://paleosimplified.com/fish-oil-rancid/ TLDR: - check guaranted amount of DHA/EPA. - fish oil better than fish oil gel capsules
