Ok im a blog newbie, first blog, first time, no myspace/xanga and so pardon me if i do anything wrong.
So hey y'all, im azn, 14, fresh man in high school, and im proud to be a geek. ...well maybe not so proud but i still love video games. Currently im trying to make a move in life away from my comp and try to get a better social life. I cant seem to start a conversation or continue one for that matter.
Every single conversation i have leads to two things; something dumb and something Asian.
Now these two things are both rather bad, cause talking about "I love rice" or cracking a really stupid joke is not gonna get me anywhere.
I cant stop saying something stupid cause i end up saying something stupid anyways when i speak. Whether it be some joke during class, a 1-on-1 conversation during break, or something, i always end up making an idiot out of myself.
So because of these two things, the only friends i have are pretty much Asian and White guys. Even the Asian friends are pretty pissed with me for turning every conversation into something about "how Asian i am" or something like that.
So I figure if i can talk and carry on a conversation properly, i might be able to get a nice life in high school, cause i really dont wanna waste these 4 years doing like, Starcraft 6 hrs a day when i could be chatting with friends and going out on week ends(yes im stuck at home during weekends.
Yea this is all going towards 1 goal, so if u could post some good advice, plz do.
...and what i want to do is get away from saying stupid shit, like saying how Asian i am in front of the whole school or something, and trying not to crack any stupid jokes. I want to be able to start and continue a conversation, without it leading to me being asian or something. Kinda like an early new years resolution. and i can talk about everything else, but everything always leads to something related to asian-ness. like for example
Person 1: "Did u see Ballz of Fury?' Person 2: " Yea. That blind old azn guy was funny" Person 1: "I liked how that asian cricket just got crushed by that white guy" Person 2: "yea i thought ping pong was an asian dominated sport, until taht fat white guy owned everything :insert laughter here: Person 1: "yea speaking of fat guys, look at that dude over there"
then it goes into something like "are Korean dramas your savior? cause when one of those pops on, my mom completely forgets about me and i can do whatever i want" I do well everywhere else, academically, physically, musically, and up-to-date on news.

Um, I think the key is instead of adapting yourself to your friends, find friends which will adapt to you. Thus, find people who play SC, and just mass game through high school. it's ez

lmao wtf im SURE there are plenty of better things to talk about than "how Asian you are" dude
talk about the latest movies u and your friends have seen. or that hot chick over there. or when you wanna get totally wasted. no wait you're only 14. but that's ok. haha (reminds me of superbad lol, i wanna watch that so bad.)
what the hell
or maybe you can just be the quiet type then ^__^

Well, I find that there's at least something interesting to talk about to anybody
Most of the time, I talk about school/classes/teachers (especially since my school is 95% nerd )
Or, if you're close with your friend, talk about stuff you like: for example, my friend and I play the "Hottest/Ugliest Girl On The Street," which is basically you pick out a hot girl, and you basically try to top him Leads to an argument everytime lolol
But seriously, talking about how "Asian" you are? I've never even thought of that lol
Oh, and if you're the type like me to say lots of stupid shit, think before you speak. If it sounds stupid, don't say it. Helped my rep a lot

talk about girls boobs, that's always a gosu topic, i could post like 3 days of chatlog with one of my idiotic friends who all he does is obsess over titties, every aim conversation is just 30+ minutes of him talkign about and compairing titties, without realizing i don't care about boobs THAT much.
anyway, titties #1 USA topic.

While it's true that you benefit from accumulating confidence in your way of life and shouldn't be too overly concerned with conforming to societal norms, you still should evaluate the effects your actions will have. From your original post you sound like you have already made this distinction, to some extent.

anyway, titties #1 USA topic. If someone had tried this with me when I was a freshman in HS... even then I would have felt sorry for them and left them alone... not appeased the behavior like you apparently did.

I was kidding I actually figured that, but it's something about half of the people on this forum do/did in HS so we have to be careful.
