So first a little background, I am an extremely indecisive person, always have been always will be, couple this with crippling anxiety and not a lot of free time or sleep and you get someone who over thinks everything and can't differentiate between things he enjoys and things he thinks he should enjoy. This is why I've come to you.
I need a decision made for me as I am accepting the fact that I won't make this decision on my own and trying to decode is wasting valuable time. I need you to decide for me if I should focus my efforts, time, and competitive drive on Sc2 or Dota 2.
I know your first thought, he should decide for himself you're thinking, how can we make a decision for him you'll think. You're right, you can't, but neither can I as I've found after almost a year of trying and I have no one else to ask. likely the choice you make will allow me to make my own decision after the fact similar to how flipping a coin helps you make a decision before it lands (which doesn't work if you already know the trick BTW).
So in order to help you make this decision I am going to give you some info to help make the decision.
Here are my priorities in gaming in order of importance with 1 being most important.
1. Gain any form on notoriety 2. Stream To roughly 50-100 consistent viewers 2.a) compete on any level 3. Get to the top end of the amateur level of the game I.e Nel or high masters 4. Enjoy myself in the process.
My biggest issues right now with both games are a few things. I didn't play dota or hon before dota 2 so I am super far behind however I've played sc2 since beta and okayed a little be. I also am not social, I have troubles going out of my way to talk to people and make connections especially finding teams, for example I was never able to find a 3v3 team in wow despite loving PvP to my core, this is clearly something I can fix though. I am also really worried about the shrinking scene on sc2 and impressed by the growth in dota, all the dead game talk around sc2 has really made me afraid to spend time getting good at it, I feel like if I spend a year playing and the scene dies I'll have wasted so much time.
Also, I don't have time to just "play both". If I had to pick I would say I find dota a little more fun but find StarCraft a better competitive choice (ignoring the shrinking scene).
So with all that info I am turning my gaming destiny over to you TL, what do you think I should do? If you have any other questions don't hesitate to ask.

play dota, being an isolated nerd while trying to be good at sc is bad for the soul

For what it's worth, I think you'll be happier in the long run if you played Dota 2. It's simply because you won't (or shouldn't) be lonely. You'll have comrades that go through good and bad times together who are there to help you. Also helps that the dota scene is growing with numerous tournaments everywhere ^^. Volvo also throwing money helps too lol

I would pick Dota because Invoker is the most awesome hero ever. You have to be quick as fuck, you need map awareness, great timing, micro and yeah. That hero got the entire package... The feeling of nailing a sun strike on a hero that has been in the fog of war for 10-15 seconds is like cumming on a princess face.
I have about 1500 hours in dota 2 I more meant I didn't play dota or hon before dota 2 so I'm behind the curve. And yes, FoW sunstrikes are amazing :D

If you have to make this decision then you probably don't have the required dedication to compete at the top level of SC2. Instead dedicate yourself to finding a group of people to play dota with as a 5 stack and you can help motivate eachother. I think the amateur scene is more friendly in Dota than SC2 so you'll probably have more luck there.

I have no plan to play at the top of sc2 just masters, also I already play both games and am gold in sc2 I just need to decide which one to spend real time practicing and which one to play casually.
Play both
I already do, want to focus on one and play the other casually.
