If Chicago could pull that one without trading Noah, that'd be an incredible trio for Chicago to build around. Aldridge is better for that team in almost every conceivable way than the 4's they have right now. Can stretch the floor and play decent defense, unlike Boozer.

Riley's comments are primarily aimed at keeping Heat season ticket-holders happy for sign-ups, not as an actual look into what they are thinking behind closed doors. Yeah but I think Miami is genuinely interested in bringing back the exact same 15 guys and just having people get healthy and get better. If they can get further improvement and consistency from Cole and Chalmers, that will be big for them. It looks like Allen will opt-out, and then they would have to re-sign him. Birdman is the interesting X-factor in this. How much money will he ask for? They can monitor Oden's progress and then In September/October look around and see if anyone's worth signing. They really don't have money to play with anymore, because adding someone new now adds like $2.00 to their luxury tax bill per extra dollar they spend.

Portland wants to get a starting center to replace Aldridge, and dump salary. With Boozer, neither occurs as their contracts are pretty similar (assuming he's your trade piece) unless its a 3 team deal which is always awesome to watch play out. Also, Chicago is over the tax threshold and we'll have to see how much so they want to be over moving forward.

Short of including a third or even fourth team to facilitate things I really can't see it happening. Portland would only be interested in picks or young talent. Bulls realistically have guys like Gibson (even this is a stretch--I think Taj is horribly overpaid even though he's a decent player) and Butler who could interest Portland but that's nowhere near enough for them to part with LMA. Boozer is about as untradeable as they come. I just can't see any team that would take on that contract under this CBA. Only way it could happen is if a sweetener was included (like Butler). The Bulls just don't have anything of worth to pull off a big trade like LMA right now. I give it <1% chance of happening.

The Bulls have a first rounder from Charlotte that will be unprotected in 2016, which will be a huge asset for them in any trades they try to make going forward. Here are the Bulls' assets: - The #20 pick in this year's draft and a first round pick in 2014 and 2015 - A first round pick from Charlotte that is top-10 protected in 2014, top-8 protected in 2015, and unprotected in 2016 - Luol Deng - Taj Gibson - Jimmy Butler The Charlotte pick is a huge asset for Chicago as it looks like Charlotte will be bad for the foreseeable future. They can package their first-round pick next year, Charlotte's first-round pick, and then two of the three players listed to try to see if Portland would bite. Obviously the salaries would have to work, but Aldridge makes $14 million next year so it wouldn't be too difficult to make it feasible. Also, I disagree that Gibson is overpaid. I think Chicago is overpaying him for his role on their team, as he is only playing around 22 mpg. But if he was playing 30-35 mpg as a starter I think he'd be able to put up 15/8, play very good defense, and match the production of someone like Boozer who's being paid twice as much. Gibson's a bit undersized, but he defends well, rebounds, can hit jumpers, and plays hard.

Charlotte isn't going to be picking outside of the top 10 in 2014 so you can scratch that asset. The 2015/16 picks are definite assets but are they enough for LMA? I dunno. Deng's value is as an expiring. Butler definitely has value. Depends how much salary they want to shed for 2014 if they're planning a run at some FAs. I just don't see a package there for someone of LMA's calibre unless they get really creative with some a third or fourth team. If LMA really wanted out I think the Blazers could find a much better package than the combination of assets the Bulls have.

I never thought that Chicago had many assets until you listed them out - they can actually bundle up a moderately appealing package for LaMarcus - who'd be a nice player for them but a little strange. Though I like the potential offensive synergy with Derrick Rose in theory - I have almost no real inkling of him as a defensive player.

It doesn't appear as though they look to be interested in moving him. Other big news that nobody is talking about cuz of other stuff today - Bird back as head man of the Pacers. Won't help them in this draft but FA and moving forward Pacers will be even better. He basically made ALL of the moves to make that team what it is...Donnie Walsh didn't really do much to help that club to be quite frank.

I agree, and it might likely require a third team that actually wants Deng (Cleveland or Washington perhaps) and is willing to part ways with a pick to get him. I think Portland would want 2-3 first rounders and a young guy or two. The Charlotte pick may not be useable for a team until 2016, and that may be a problem for them considering they struck gold with Lillard and probably want to put promising young guys around him as soon as possible.

I'm gonna throw Kelly Olynyk in as a late first-rounder who could be a bit of a dark horse to make it in the NBA.

So many interesting players who no one really knows how they will turn out, lots of potential trade activity and even though mock drafts are pretty much always wrong, I guess that will be even more so this time...and it seems rather deep in the sense that you could potentially get solid role players that can help your team all the way through. Looking forward to seeing what happens. people have been saying that for all of the recent drafts, and its true. you have a couple of players who have excelled, and you have a couple of players who were busts. imo 2009 draft could be considered the last 'strong' draft, with the majority of the first rounders showing good returns. 2010 was mostly a bust. 2011 was better. many of 2012 class spent alot of time in dleague, lillard and barnes are really the only two names that stick out currently. nba draft should be about superstars. in the state of the nba, lottery teams dont need more role players, let alone rookie ones at that. with these lottery teams, their player development is pretty lacking as well; look at john wall, tyreke, etc for example. i do think this years draft sounds better "on paper", in terms of player "potential", but again, anything is possible. not holding my breathe.

It's just my personal view as a semi neutral fan ,obviously everyone in the lottery wants franchise players, as well as fans of those struggling teams. I still find this to be a rather fascinating draft though, some good teams drafting later on could get some really interesting pieces that could help them, but obviously those at the top aren't likely to get that franchise changing superstar that they desperately desire , which is why so many of them have been looking to trade it
