I've played so many MMOs, and WoW is still the best I've ever played...but its just getting sooo old and repetitive.
I really want to try a futuristic MMORPG, but none of those seem to be doing well.
I want a relatively new MMO, not a really old one that we all know was awesome.
I've played...
Tera: Was fun but way too much grinding and small playerbase Rift: WoW clone, was decent Aion: Pretty sick, but another Asian grinding game, but I love the PvP stuff Guild Wars 2: Meh, underwhelmed completely Lineage 2: Was great, too old, small playerbase now
I realllllyyy can't wait for Wildstar but in the meantime I need to play an MMO!!! And I hate all the ones completely infested with bots nowadays..
I'm in the exact same situation, but for ESO. I played Warframe for a bit, although fun, it was super repetitive and I got bored quickly. I couldn't find any other MMOs that really appeal, so playing cheap indie games atm. Don't Starve is pretty fun so far. GL in the your search, if u find something, I might tag along as well.

The player base is a bit small and the leveling is somewhat grindy (Has a good storyline though) However, the combat is incredible and PvP is awesome :D.
RIFT, TERA are the only quality MMO's out there atm, other then that you have the pay-to-win poorly made trash.
Another alternative is GW2, as its no subs, but you said you didnt like it :>
If you thought RIFT was decent, i'd suggest playing that, playerbase is bigger now its F2P and it really is a very solid game. Best WoW clone on the f2p market for sure.
If you dont mind paying cash, SW:TOR? Its futuristic for sure (lightsabers awesome) Good stories for the levelling grind, not sure how end game is nowadays. The pvp was always awesome for me though, do NOT approach without monies. I actually loved this game, but stopped because its end-game was terrible at launch lol, i guess its improved alot now though
I really liked planetside 2 but my PC can't really handle it. It's free to play mmo shooter ( actually mmo shooter, with hundreds of player battles happening on battlefields with thousands of player ) and it's skill based enough so you don't really have to pay anything to be able to "have fun" in it as long as your are decent at FPS.
I still enjoy the old MMOs, like Silkroad and Lineage 2. Sometimes nostalgia just hits me and I install one of them again and play for a week or something. There are quite a few very populated servers too, with 1000+ online at all times

lineage 2 is quite good (after how ridiculous it was in the beginning) but silkroad? wth dude :D
